I should clarify - apart from lots and lots of penguins, it's furniture I cram into rooms not ornaments   I don't think I could do minimalist

Oh I could! If I had the money I'd get rid of everything in here and go smaller, starting with the 3 seater settee and chair

Mix of both.  Very old house with lots of features - beams, inglenook fireplaces, flagstones etc but I've mixed it with modern/funky rads, smooth clean lines and no clutter.

Sounds dreadful, probably is but it suits me and mine.

As I type this I know that I'm really much more urban than country cottage.
Obviously I bought the wrong house

Cosmopolitan

If I had to put a name to my style id say it was 'homely' I like things to look comfortable and usable. When I buy stuff there is always the "how will it age" thought in the back of my mind. I like light colours and clean open spaces. I don't have any 'ornaments'. Its quite simple and clean, I only have a few candles and photo frames on the side, and always (well mostly always) fresh flowers. Someone pointed out to me once that there are a lot of 'words' around my house and they are right on the tray it says "tray" in the hall it says "home" etc   And I like fabric, things with nice fabric.

If I won the lottery i think I would like to live in an ultra modern minimalist house. But id never ever try to recreate anything like that unless i was a millionaire because doing on a budget doesn't work for me, Ikea, Argos flat packed... NO.

Ditto.

Cottages........beams...........NO!

I guess that's what makes us all different though

^^^^ That's aspirational.

I live in a 30 year old, bog standard house, and my style is more traditional than modern.

I think it's all in the way it's put together, if someone knows what they're doing I think it could work (depending on the furniture you picked obviously)
