The very best female singers IMO are Celine Dion, Dionne Warwick, Barbara Streissand. Mariah WAS good, and probably stll is - like someone mentioned above - she tries to hard these days with the vocal acrobatics. I havent heard Whitney lately but she was bloody good back in the day
