Did I just here Bea say that Hira would be culturally more at home in BB India? Eeker

Yes.
She also said Hira is a fish out of water,I'm disliking this Beatch more by the second.

Isn't Hira from Pakistan.?

Yes.
Siavash is from Iran,by her theory he too should be a fish out of water,Rodrigo also.

I'm surprised Marcus didn't pull her up on that.
He's probably leaving her enough rope to hang herself. Smiler

That's the impression I got. Nominations are coming up, after all. Wink

Of course it may be that he was just paying more attention to the general thrust of her argument rather than the details, but from what I could tell, that was a load of crap too...

They were all eating gummy sweety animals earlier on and challenging each other to eat the snakes whole, Bea thought she dislocated her jaw, they were all amazed at how quickly Dave managed it then Bea got talking about Sci Fi and the breakdown of modern society because of that and the internet leading people astray and controlling their minds.

I do agree with Bea that the moon landings never happened. Glance

Why do you think that?

The position of the shadows on the moon surface, the flag blowing about when there no wind, the fact that there would be so many things that could go wrong to stop them from making there and back.

the position of the shadows,....
this was explained AND demonstrated in a lab recreating the EXACT lighting conditions that would be present on the moons surface,
sunlight strenght and direction, reflecting nature of the lunar surface, which is nothing like the surface of the earth,
and there is no atmosphere this allows for a certain scatering of the light that you DONT get on earth,

the flag did NOT blow, repeat, the flag did NOT blow,...it simply fell into position and then when it came to rest it STAYED in that position, even when one of the astronauts moved past it almost brushing it, it DID NOT MOVE cause he didnt make a draught cause there is NO atmosphere,

so many things that could go wrong?

erm apollo 13?

also seconds before landing they got a ...B1202 ALARM " I think it was a B1202" they almost aborted the landing,
turns out it was the computer working to hard and begining to shut down "non essential" stuff,

when they could actually look out of the window of the lunar module "during the decent" they saw that they were off course by about 2 miles, Niel Armstrong had to 2"manualy" take control of the landing and FLY the lunar module to a safe landing area this resulted in them having less than 30 seconds of fuel left when they finaly touched down,

in other words it WAS close....DAMN close,

NEXT, Big Grin

A faux-deep philosophical discussion between Marcus and Bea. Bea adheres to the notion that technology is isolating people. She also seems to suggest that technology offers countless distractions and thus we can easily be manipulated by tyrannical governments. This point of view runs counter to Orwell's 1984 assertion that we shall be controlled by a despotic form of control (oh Big Brother where art thou?) Bea seems to be more of a believer in Huxley's idea of control via attention diversion via trivialities (like watching Big Brother for example).

Any questions? Big Grin

erm......can you give me a few days to get my head round what you said and then I might understand it.........Nah you could give me a month and I still wouldn't be clever enough to understand it Blush. You seems like a genuine sort so I will agree, your spot on Thumbs Up

Apparently Freddie used the word "fancy" and Bea didn`t like it.
It has clearly disturbed Freddie and Bea seemed to be indicating certain guidelines.
Although Freddie will be upset about this I think it could be the thing which saves him.
The rose-tinted spectacles may clear and Freddie may see things as they really are again.
Lets hope so.

she also seems to thin we should all stop using the internet and emails and go back to writing letters,
it would seem that doing things by the fastest and easiest means is WRONG,
I know Bea, why dont we go back to writing with quils on papyrus and then tie it to the leg of a pigeon?
OR why stop there? we could use drums or bloody smoke signals, ay bloody cretin,
no one write letters any more cause they dont HAVE TO, give me strength, Roll Eyes

I don't remember Bea ever saying that she is a 'hippie,'(could be wrong?) Have heard her say that she is ,'a bit of a hippie.' It makes me cross when some people on this forum criticise her for bing a 'faux hippie' as if it's some static religious cult with expectations of compliance in dress, behaviour etc. etc. that has to match a 1960s 'stereotype'

Think it was something that was either in her VT or possibly the way that Davina described her when she was going into the house.
S
I think the gist of her chat with Marcus was that technology, while good, has also had the effect of reducing human contact and conern.
Meeting people and letter writing having diminished being just a couple of examples.
Very many people in the world including academics and other specialists are concerned about the same thing.
I understand many of the points.
I can contact my closest by E mail and phone, but that doesn`t compare to being with them, seeing them and touching them.
It was that sort of conversation. Quite good I thought by BB standards.

Awwww, sorry, but I love a nice letter, preferably on good quality paper, definitely in proper ink , written with thought and reflection rather than an instant, disposable response... that I can put in my, 'treasure/memories' box and read from time to time..goes off to read Jane Austen! Laugh
