I agree with you on both points there.
My point about Callum and Sam constantly talking football was about "coping strategies", but yes: it's not exactly gripping TV (and from what Wolfy has said, it's got a lot to do with why some HMs don't chat much with Sam - basically they find his subjects for conversation boring).
It's been commented on elsewhere, but there really is a dearth of "men's men" this year, and instead a lot of "metrosexual" types. Again, I think that's got a lot to do with why Sam's struggling to "gel" with other HMs and why Callum's "feminine" side has come out so strongly...
