The only difference I can see in the layout of the threads is that the information goes down the page instead of across. The names of those logged on are on the page. The name of the thread starter is there the number of posts etc. It's all there.

No, some thread pages will not open for me. Also, I clicked for my name to be hidden. It's not hidden. I also clicked for all emails not to be sent, I still get emails. There's more but I won't bore you. Laugh
If you go to Manage>settings and scroll to the bottom of the Notifications and CHECK the Vacation box. I think that shoul put a stop to all e_mail notification for everything.

I also clicked 'hide me' and it hasn't worked yet either but that also happens at another forum I go to occassionally.
The lost pages seem to be connected with Internet Explorer.
I'm not sticking up for the place or anything. I just want to help keep us together.

Yes I clicked Submit. I have done this each time I visited the site. I haven't bothered going back because it doesn't work. Correction, it worked once!

I would much prefer that we could all keep together but it's unlikely to happen as things stand currently. I say again, if the site owners leave this forum exactly the same, leave it here and not move it, or alternatively move it and keep it in this format then everyone will be happy. But sadly I don't think this will happen.

I think most people are of the opinion that if the forums resembled these, they would feel a lot more comfortable with the whole experience and they would then feel more comfortable with trying the other parts of the LiveCloud system, which, I'm sure could be a great deal of fun, but the problem remains that even though the forums and threads are going to move, the way in which they are displayed is going to change, even people with a good deal of techincal savvy are finding problems with the whole quoting system, and refreshing threads, though I will say it has improved a good deal since my first visit.

I can just see another BBC situation where people floated off into cyberspace, not just because they weren't willing to try, because the whole experience of being on a forum and talking to like minded people changed completely and it was difficult for some people to deal with.

I'm sure the mods and owners of this site think that this is the way forward for forums in the future and we should be grateful that they gave us a home in the first place, but I also think that it's a two way thing and surely they read the posts and realise that there are real concerns and problems and prehaps the LiveCloud move is not such a good idea at the moment in it's current format.

Anyway I am going to shut up now as I have said what I think and I really do not want to get into arguements with fellow FM's, but if an alternative is found then I think I would seriously consider spending more time there and learning about LiveCloud at my own pace.

It doesn't work for me. Also, the amount of spam emails in my spam inbox have increased dramatically since registering there.

think of it a sa village, you have your house and you have people next door, in my house i have my blog and my wall, some times neighbours drop in and write on my wall, some times i stroll over to their place and write on their walls.and read all abut their dirty secrets on the their blogs, now and then i wander over to the village green and other villagers are there and we have a chat abut other stuff.

no feeding the ducks though.

the problem is that this livecloud thing is splitting us into two groups.

group one seems to be those for whom the software warks and like all the messing arround to be done.

group two consists of those who have signed up but dont like the 3rd rate software, those who signed up but cant use the thing either because of faults or its complexity, those who have no use or intrest in social networking sites and simply do not trust that the supposed ability to block everything except their version of this forum since for some its impossible to stop some stuff already, those who dont wish to provide their postcode and those (like me) who get a pop up error as soon as you try to create their profile, which closes so fast that you cant copy it, of course if you cant join then you certainly cant wade through the livecloud quagmire in a forlorn attempt to find somewhere to post telling them of the problem.

maybe if they admitted defeat and put it off till sept next year it would give them chance to fix all that is wrong, but as it is now an enforced move next week will break up this community whether livecloud fans like it or not because there are a lot who simply find that site unuseable, at least tigi's alternative forum will enable those who cant or choose not to use livecloud a single point of communication and somewhere that EVERYONE can sign up to rather than livecloud.

put simply if you want to keep the community together then you need to be a member of somewhere that all of the community can join and livecloud is not that place.

Lots of off shoot fora have been opened since I started posting on C4 but they were all very quiet and in some cases destroyed by Trolls.

Trolls can only destroy a forum if the admin let them.

Also, if the members themselves let them Nod

Very true Lass wavey How's you this Sunday morning? I often see those huge huge threads when someone with many identities comes on yet again and I wonder why so many flock to respond! Its a mystery to me.

I've been over (I was already registered, I registered EVERYWHERE when C4 was going down) and started a thread called Escapees from Live Cloud. I thought I would see how many fancy it.

I think if we could all decide on a place we all liked then we could make that our perfect place as long as we all were there and happy with the place, just a thought.

I was only suggesting a public place to regroup in case things go titsup, as I said. I'm not advocating a formal move there. I'll give Livecloud a go first.

I choose this place as a replacement for C4 becasue of the independent Mods..

I am not a fan of the format of the groupee forum on LiveCloud but I'd put up with it to ensure we don't have Forum members moderating other forum members in a 'public' forum.. .Wink

I have my own forum and am a member of other offshoot forums too but this place, wherever it is hosted, will be as close as I can get to having a C4 type anonymously run forum.. it fills a forum gap for me... couldn't do DS tis too BB orientated all year round and some of it's non BB forums are inhabited by some REAL SCARY nutters Eeker

I am not one for liking change. .think I am too old now but, I will muddle along and I am sure, as with anything, there will come a time when I'll forget what this place and C4 forums were like as I adjust more and more to the new format.. hopefully, after a while so will everybody else.

it's not ideal but it still is the best way to keep as much of the old C4 community together under anonymous Moderation.. so I'll go with it but under some duress and maybe a little bit of sulking thrown in here and there Laugh

That sounds lovely but, have you tried the 'forum bit for practice' yet? Its still way clunky compared to here.

If you try MANAGE>NOTIFICATIONS then put communities in the drop down box and fiddle around with the optioms there it might do it.
I wasn't paying that much attention when I did it myself, so am not 100% sure what finally stopped them. Smiler
