I am not particularly PRO Live Cloud's Social networking side of things (or anyone elses for that matter) but what I am agaist is the negativity and scaremongering that can be seen. (and I'm not meaning specifically any particular person or thread) I am aware that people are having problems and I am not trying to belittle those problems I am just saying, do not throw in the towel without giving it a go yourself, just because several people HAVE had problems. Remember, once the forums have been migrated we can close down our profiles and use the GaGa forums only. These forums!

A few years back the BBC did exactly the same kind of thing, deciding that their forums were outdated, again they were very easy to use and decided to change them overnight. Many, many people stopped using the forums and a whole community was lost because the new system had to be adopted. I have a nasty feeling that is what will happen here.

I said this in another psot regarding this matter, if it ain't broke, don't fix it and that is what I think is wrong with this move, it ain't broke, doesn't need fixing so why do it?
All of the above post is my opinion only, I would not presume to speak for other FM's

Thats exactly what happened with the BBC forum, and I agree with your comment about if it's not broke it doesn't need fixing. Nod

But at the risk of sound boring , they are NOT these forums, they are the LiveCloud forums, not the same style as these and I'm sorry, a lot more difficult for the casual user to use.

I'm not saying anymore, because this will just become an arguement and I really don't want to argue with a fellow FM, but I think on this matter, we will just have to agree to disagree, I am not being negative, and I feel that a lot of other FM's are not being negative for negatives sake, they just can't understand why a forum that works well for them, is easy to use and is popular, needs to be changed.

That is what I truly wish that the people who like the new system would understand, yeah I'm sure it could be great fun, it could be better, but and it is a big but, why can't we keep the things that we are used to for just a little longer and sort out ALL the glitches before the switch is made.

I agree with the rumour thing, it would be good however if we were allowed to keep this system going at least until the end of Big Brother.

I don't really agree with a lot you say but please accept this Hug because you ARE genuinely trying to help people.

You as well BB? I used to love the BBC forums, that's what I started posting on forums, or messageboards as they were called.

Thank you. There are quite a few people over there pointing out bugs and things that could be/need to be improved to the mods and there is a vast difference in what the place is like now to what it was when Live Cloud first reared its ugly head, both in terms of general looks and functionality. I know that it's never going to be exactly like what we have here, but it's getting closer. I'd just hate to see us break up as a community for, what seems to me at least, teathing problems. even though I know these problems are not always easily overcome.

When people were joining the C4 forums some said the were quite different to the forums they had used before and that they were struggling. But we all pitched in and they persevered and eventually got comfy with them,

I see this move to Live Cloud in the same way, some of us can embrace it more quickly and easily and can therefore help others to get comfy....and we have much more amenable and helpful mods than we did at C4. Hug

I'm like Charlie, me. I love you all! Smiler

This is nothing like the same as people needing help to use a forum they are unfamiliar with. This current set up on black cloud is NOT a proper forum setup. I very much doubt that this will change. If they wished to have a proper forum setup they would just leave it as it is like on here when the move happens. They have said this is not going to be the case.

jackson, do you like it over the cloudy place?

not at first, but i found the more i play with it, the more i like it, it suffers from not showing your own posts in summary form and dates would help, but apart from that it seems fine.i've posted about these things in the support forum over there.

There is one thing being forgotten here. The Forum is not up and running yet. No one is using it. So no one can say what exactly it's going to look like.
There is a place being used by some of our members to put our point of view across.
This is not the Forum. It will all be different when all these familiar threads move there.
I don't intend on using all the other stuff but I'm willing to have a look when the Forum is actually there.
Tayto.
thing is i everyone goes ff joining splinter forums( i have one myself) then the whole point of moving to livecloud is lost, in that most wanted to go there to keep together the community here, well that ain't gonna happen if people go off half cocked and fling themselves into cyberspace.

no breadcrumbs either...

I am willing to give it a go after the move, but if the forums end up being the same format as the support forum over there I won't be hanging around. Not so much because I don't like the set up (which I don't) but because it doesn't work properly on my PC. Whole pages are missing, and that's just one problem.

When these forums are migrated to there you will be able to do just that. You'll have to LOG-IN, then SIGN-IN, but it's the same details for both. It's just a security measure. Smiler

Hi BB. Wave Nothing like this ever goes without a hitch. Hopefully it will be all sorted in time.
The only difference I can see in the layout of the threads is that the information goes down the page instead of across. The names of those logged on are on the page. The name of the thread starter is there the number of posts etc. It's all there.

Quite Jackson, that is why I keep urging folk to wait until the forums are actually there and we see the reality, before making a final decision.

I don't think anybody is going anywhere before the due date, ppl are just worried about what happens after that and don't wish to miss the boat, so to speak, hence the panic before the event. Smiler

I'm not saying you haven't done it BB but make sure you click 'submit' at the bottom of the page where you uncheck the boxes?
I also clicked 'hide me' and it hasn't worked yet either but that also happens at another forum I go to occassionally.
The lost pages seem to be connected with Internet Explorer.
I'm not sticking up for the place or anything. I just want to help keep us together.

I think what ever happens it will divide peoples opinions, some love it and love the extras and probably now won't spend that much time in the forums, most will give it a go, but aren't keen on the changes and can forsee problems and some will hate it and will not want to change under any circumstances.

I think most people are of the opinion that if the forums resembled these, they would feel a lot more comfortable with the whole experience and they would then feel more comfortable with trying the other parts of the LiveCloud system, which, I'm sure could be a great deal of fun, but the problem remains that even though the forums and threads are going to move, the way in which they are displayed is going to change, even people with a good deal of techincal savvy are finding problems with the whole quoting system, and refreshing threads, though I will say it has improved a good deal since my first visit.

I can just see another BBC situation where people floated off into cyberspace, not just because they weren't willing to try, because the whole experience of being on a forum and talking to like minded people changed completely and it was difficult for some people to deal with.

I'm sure the mods and owners of this site think that this is the way forward for forums in the future and we should be grateful that they gave us a home in the first place, but I also think that it's a two way thing and surely they read the posts and realise that there are real concerns and problems and prehaps the LiveCloud move is not such a good idea at the moment in it's current format.

Anyway I am going to shut up now as I have said what I think and I really do not want to get into arguements with fellow FM's, but if an alternative is found then I think I would seriously consider spending more time there and learning about LiveCloud at my own pace.
♥PinkBabe1966♥The Angel under the tree!
thing is with splinter forums, is that the moderation can be difficult, trying to please everyone and be all things to all members. it just doesn't work for long, you would need the moderation to be seen as totally impartial and that rarely happens if you are not detached froom it, even the mods here have been given stick for perceived bias.
