There's going to be a lot of people left with egg on their faces once the dust settles on this one. For example, The Sun are trying to cover-up their tracks now, but they originally published this photo under the headline "First picture of lion on loose in Essex": needless to say the police have since dismissed the photo as a hoax...

TBF, that does look quite big. I'd say a labrador or maybe a Ridgeback.
