Am confused by this- dont watch it, then watch it? Make yer mind up love.

Lily Allen has asked fans not to watch a new documentary on her, saying she is embarassed by the finished programme.

'Riches To Rags', to be shown on Channel 4 next week, follows her and sister Sarah Owen as they launch their own clothes shop.

"Just a couple of things, some of you may have read about a TV show called 'Riches To Rags' (title not my idea) airing on Tuesday next week," she said on Twitter.

"We started filming it a year ago and I feel like a completely different person from the one that features in the programme. I'm inclined to ask you not to watch it cause quite frankly I am embarrassed.

"On the other hand I want you all to watch it so you can see how the press coverage of it has been totally sensationalised and quotes taken out of context. I should probably know better than to write this here but I feel it's the only place that my words don't get minced. That is all." [The Mirror]

Lily's getting a bit precious isn't she? It's only a reality fly on the wall show and she's only a hyped pop star and TV personality. I doubt she's as much of a 'different person' as she likes to think.

When a celeb asks someone not to watch something, I can't help thinking that it's just a way to drum up viewer interest in the show.

Also agree with Carnelian. Lily Allen is really essentially just a nobody who got famous off her dad and stepdad's back... she has zero talent and is a fake cockney who sounds stupid. Can't bear her.

Just to clarify, I like Lily and I quite like her music and attitude. I don't have any Lily Allen music but I don't mind listening to it. I agree the whole mockney thing is entirely phony but has its charm none the less. I agree that without her connections she'd be a nobody, but her style is her own (kind of) rather than the routine R&B/pop that saturates the charts. She does seem to have more of a brain in her head than most female pop stars and has more informed opinions on things.

So I do like her, but in this instance, she sounds a bit up her own arse. The viewers, should they watch her show, will draw their own conclusions. I doubt I'll watch it, it's not really my thing.

I don't follow celeb gossip at all.. so all I seem to do is pop up in threads about the odd person & say I like them. Its only cos if I don't like them, I don't watch them, read about them, or talk about them in threads.

I like Lily Allen. I know she used her family connections to break through, but it wasn't that alone... she was one of the first big names to build a fanbase through MySpace (along with The Arctic Monkeys)...

Her style of music isn't to my taste.. but I will listen to some of it because I like the lyrics to her stuff. (The Fear makes me laugh every time)..

As for her changing over the past year, she's been through a lot recently.. losing a baby six months into the pregnancy would change anyone I would thought.

I feel sorry for Lily for what has happened to her, but that aside she is incredibly rude and seems to think the world owes her something. I used to follow her on twitter but her own self importance got too nauseating.

I wouldn't set out to watch it, possibly watch it if I happen to be channel hopping at the time and there's nothing funny on..

1. Lily Allen appears to be a somebody.

2. She has lotsa talent.

I don't think she sounds particularly cockernee, or mockernee, but she does have a bit of a London accent, which is not that unusual, amongst Londoners!

Oh, and I like her music, but don't know a lot about her, otherwise.
