I lost count of the "Likes" when she was in the diary room.
Now please don't lynch me Corin fans, but that carry on in the diary room was just waaay too much. She loves itttt like, mint, like. The other night she told Nathan his garlic croutons were 'well fit'. What way does she speak and I'm not speaking about her accent.
I know loads of people who like, speak like that like. It's dead mint that is. It's like ace like

Ife has been the record holder for the most "like" words used, but it seems Caoimhe is catching her up.
What an awful way of speaking.

Kevin does it just as often, to be fair.
Yeah Ika, everywhere has its own speech patterns especially working class folk...you just get used to your own/people around you and tune it out. You only really notice when it differs from your own.

My friends and I would nearly cry with embarassment when Spiral (Spoiral) spoke. In fairness Noireen and Caoimhe aren't as bad.Now Leccy his was a pure Dublin working class accent. You would need sub titles
I know lots of people who say" like " I think it is more a northern thing we like our slang words love when I go to Scotland their slang words are ace
Hahahaha Spoiral His rapping still sticks in my mind.

Ah thanks Marguerite so you have a bit of the blarney in you Dub is a cute little city but believe me, hand on heart, without being snobbish at all, there are certain Dublin accents that you would need a translator for. Reference:Fairfax

When we used to go to Scotland it took my husband ages to understand what my sisters were saying, and if they got excited about anything they would talk so fast he was completely lost
I suppose it's true if you are used to it you don't notice it as much. Now Glaswegian, there are some tuly awful repetative words used. Not by me you understand unless I get a bit pished of an evening, then the venacular escapes.
Didn't this "like" business start in America?
As in guys tend to say "man" a lot as in "How's it goin, mah man,Ye awright wee man?" etc.
Or "Man ye should have seen the state I was in man!"
Or "Man ye should have seen the state I was in man!"

I think it spread it further...but like has always been used a lot in the north. It's no different to Prince Charles with his umming and ahhing...lots of really posh (not just RP, I mean sloaney types) "erm" a lot too.

She sure does.In Irl they reckon it comes from the orange county Valley girl programmes, like the Hills etc. The really posh Irish pronounce it as LOike, with heavy emphasis on the O
