I was wondering the same Supes ... I did click on it, but got tits and bums, so clicked off!!!

It was FABULOUS

I'm not going to say anymore until you've all seen it, coz I don't want to influence you. All I will say though is take loads of Kleenex ... I went fully made up and came out a wreck

OMG, OMG  it was FABULOUS, want to go right back and watch it over again. but my emotions are shot!

Kaffs you've so got to get yourself there double quick so we can all talk about it. Surprised how quiet it was, cinema was about 2/3rds empty, had a whole row to ourselves and all of the seats in front of us, (about 15/20 rows) were free

I'm surprised at that too - although I suppose it was a Monday night...

I won't be seeing it until Saturday, and I expect it to be heaving.

(It will also be my first cinema trip in years that I haven't personally organized, so I'm a little nervous about that too...)

I'm trying supes... it's not easy organising a shift working nurse and mum of two to be available at the same time as me.     I am considering just buggering off on my own without telling them - but it's better if you've got someone to walk out with if you're all red puffy eyed.  Feel free to talk about it.   A girl in the office went at the weekend and she said it was really good but "I wasn't crying or anything like that.."   Pfft.. heart of stone - I was welling up watching the programme about the making of it!

Yes, I chose a Monday night on purpose Eugene 'cos I assumed it would be less busy, (can't do big crowds and being 'squeezed in') Hope you enjoy on Saturday, it really is brilliant. Oh and when I got to the cinema it turned out the booking for our tickets that I'd made on line about two weeks previously hadn't gone through! Apparently they'd had a problem with their system and bookings were showing as having been completed when they hadn't, so if it's a Showcase cinema your friend has booked best they double check.

You'll definitely need the Kleenex Kaffs!

Yes, me too! I sent the link to my sis and she got 'not available in your country.' She's desperate to see it and reckons if there's still no copy DVD available on her local market this week then she is getting on a flight!

I'm back!!!

A-MAY-ZINGGG!!!!

My expectations were high but it even exceeded them. What a fabulous film - so emotional, so well done, such a fabulous cast - I'm still reeling and raving about it.

I love the show .......I was worried that this might just taint it....................dare I say - it's even better

Like others I had my reservations about Russell Crowe but I thought he was superb - a great voice (not as great as some of the stage Javares) but what he lacked in volume he certainly made up for in sheer presence and menace.

Ann Hathawy BRILLIANT/ Hugh Jackman FANTASTIC/ Samantha Barks/REMARKABLE ..........I even grew to love Cosette a little.

Anyone who's not seen it yet .....HURRY UP - it's FABULOUS. I'm gonna try and see it again ASAP!

I watched Les Mis over here in Korea, it was in English.

If I'm being honest, it really wasn't for me. I knew going in it was a musical (i havent seen the stage show) but they wouldn't stop bloody singing. Even when they were having conversations with each other - they were singing. It did my nork in.

Having said that, the production was super impressive. The sets, location and all that were top notch.

If you love the stage show, you're sure to love this, but for me it was a chore to get through.

The critics also hated the stage show 20 odd years ago ..........it's still running today and is more popular than ever. As you say critics don't always speak for the people.

I know. I primarily went to impress the girl I was taken. Hoped she would think I was being cultured with a dash a sensitivity.

Did it work? O,r was she simply reduced to a snivelling wreck?

Snivelling about the film, not the date obviously. More importantly - if you were out to impress I hope you were wearing the infamous gold tie.

In the middle of an OU PPE degree I took a Popular Culture course, just for fun, for a laugh, ahaha. The signposting aspect of advertising, semilogy, or whatever you call it is quite important, although with musicals there is a big clue! Cabaret was the only musical that ever appealed. It worked on so many levels. Obviously Les Mis was never going to work, having heard someone sing one of the songs at a holiday resort and thinking WTF is that. That Subo one didn't help either. So in conclusion I think everyone will agree when I tip my hat and salute in Rawky's direction. Well done for sitting through that on the off chance of getting yer tops later on but.

Just read Philip French in the Observer and he loves it! First, love both sacred and profane, and it's ability to transform and transcend. Second, our need to fight for change and social justice in a cruel world that resists revolution or too easily undermines and diverts it. Third and above all is about holding onto hope in the most desperate conditions, and it ends in the victory of love in a context of political defeat.
