Worst place in the UK, without doubt... Bradford.. run down, filthy streets, and deeply racially divided. I lived there for a few months while my-then-partner was at Uni... the most depressing place I've ever seen . What struck me especially was how little people cared. Belfast, where I'm from, has plenty of terrace houses in "bad" areas, but people keep them so well, like palaces. In Bradford, I saw people wee in, and chuck their rubbish into their own front gardens. Just depressing

I agree with Great Yarmouth....hideous place....it's like Deptford on sea.

My number one horrible place would be Clacton on Sea...never actually been there but used to have to deal with people all over the South East in my last job...the people from Clacton were without exception the nastiest whingiest moaniest people I had to deal with.

The whole place need nuking!

Bridlington is fab (biased opinion - I am related to about 10% of the Brid population)

I agree with Hull (grim grim grim), Leceister & Clacton though...

Clacton is a shit hole...   its just down the road from us...     Frinton & Walton (neighbouring towns) are lovely though...    Clacton isn't the worst of the stretch of seaside towns down there though..  Jaywick & Harwich make Claccy look positively classy!

I would never answer this question because it's impossible to answer it without offending people.  Someone on here is BOUND to come from the place that you 'allegedly' hate.  Plus, it's really offensive and rude to generalise and say that one particular part of the country where people are grumpy unpleasant bastards.  There are good and bad and grumpy and pleasant everywhere.  Questions like this only serve to offend people.  So I refuse to answer.  Moreover, I can't, because there IS no place where people are ruder or more horrible than anywhere else.

I think Leicester is worse to be honest.. But in the end it is the memories that make the place for you.
I lived in the East End of London for 4 years and had the best time ever.

On a different slant, I had always heard occasional rumours that the Scots detested the English and may be all rude and snotty, towards the English as they disliked us.. but when we went to visit for a week a couple of years ago, we didn't come across one single hostile person.  They were proper friendly and it was genuine.  And they were friendly before they heard us speak and after.    (Scotty posting reminded me of this.)

Hackney and Hastings are places I don't like much. Don't know what it is about Hackney but it is the only place in London that I ever feel unsafe (apart from anywhere near my neighbours) and I live on a scary sink estate!!
Hastings is in dire need of help. All that decayed grandeur, it could be a lovely place but has a whole air of poverty and lack of care about it.
I find Birmingham really ugly but think it has improved a lot over the last few years

Golder's Green?
Stamford Hill. Probably the one of the safest places in London though.

Hi Suzy, yep I remembered the name afterwards. It is a safe place, it was Hackney that I was saying had a really bad vibe to it. I have a friend who lives in Stokey which is practically Hackney and even she doesn't like Hackney
