Karma - thank you - I heard this song today and could I remember what it reminded me of
Yes, a bloody rip-off.
Yes, a bloody rip-off.
I HATE LADT GAGA....randowm caps alert...talk about over hyped...but then again i think Madonna is a tired overhyped old slapper too.
So is her "outrageous" image ..Madge did it all years ago,and better.

Katty I agree - I find Lady Gaga quite an interesting character but she really is nothing new.
Very divided opinion about the song and some of her fans can't stand it, yet it's number 1 in 23 countries on I-Tunes already.
Sounds like she's run out of ideas already!!
I can't pretend I don't find her stuff catchy(Paparazzi, Bad Romance are very effective pop songs IMO), but as a role model for young girls, she's a bit too much.
This new song is instantly forgettable.

Sorry to post and run, fell a kip earlier and have been dozing lots, now awake grrr.
Anyhoo, yeah, that Gaga track....can't understand all the hype around it. If I was Madonna I'd be speaking to my lawyers right about now! I saw Gaga perform at some show with Elton John on the tele, can't remember what show it was (she was on a piano suspended in mid air) - she sung a beautiful song and she can indeed sing (better than Madonna) - but as for her being original? Meh. She's just trying to do what Madonna did in the 80's IMHYCO.
Original artists to me are the likes of Madonna, Alanis Morisette, Tracy Chapman, Karen Carpenter (and of course Aretha), instantly recognisable. Not Gaga and her fake meat wearing fanjita flashing offerings
P.S. When I say Gaga I mean Lady Gaga, not the lady mod of Gaga btw.

Lady Gaga is about as original as my hairy arse!
All's she's doing is what Madonna did in the 80's (who I equally can't stand) but giving it that extra little 'something' by wearing seagulls as a hat

There was an interesting article in The Sylist the other week about Gaga, her music and image etc. It's on the website, but they've put it in 4 parts for some reason If anyone fancies reading it, part one is here: http://www.stylist.co.uk/peopl...ticle/737/gaga

She is OK, but a bit over-rated. The fact that she is so massively succesful and popular just goes to show what a load of shit the charts are in this day and age.

I have just listend to the song, and it sounds nothing like 'Express yourself' IMO And yes her voice is a BIT like Madonna's, but that's because she is a massive fan of hers and was influenced heavily by her. So she is a bit like Madonna. So what? Most artists are influenced by SOMEone, just like actors are...

*big rolly eyes*There's a difference in taking inspiration from other artists and completely ripping off their work (IMO). You may not think it sounds like Madonna's 'Express Yourself', but I do. In fact, I'm pretty damn sure it does. (IMO, obviously). *rolly eyes again*

I always suspected Madonna ripped off Cyndi Lauper's style
So here's the pecking order....
1. Cyndi
2. Nana
9. Dame Kiri
37. Madge
185. GaGa
186. Rihanna

There is at least one line that's musically identical to the Madonna track.
I`ve listened to them both twice now.
Apart from the arrangements, they`re almost identical.

Whatever...it's a load of rubbish anyway

Straight to the point!Hello Kayteekins ltns
Lady Gaga is an insecure girl who has chosen to stick it to the bullies in the playground by being way over the top and thus making it into the lime light. The music is mediocre and has all been done before, but, lucky for her, there is the next generation.

Yeah a load of rubbish that got to number 3 in just two days of sales, although some Gaga fans are OTT but dedicated!
I'm only buying the album
I like the Gaga, but I don't take music too seriously.

She is over the top IMO, but seems to have made shed loads of dollars doing it.

Must be my ears, but to me the melody line is almost identical
The two songs are very similar. Its almost as if Lady Gaga's producers 'sampled' a bit of Madonna's song. Sampling happens a lot in todays music, which is a shame...although I do quite like Dirty Bit by the Black Eyed Peas

Cupcake`s lugs are filled with flour dust.
I love Lady Gaga she's so amazing.
61,000 plus downloads in the UK in 34 hours, plus number one on Itunes in every country that has Itunes is an amazing achievement.
my view on the song, average, V average,

Well the song is ok, and I can't see it sounds a lot like express yourself, but people hear different things. Thing is though: I can't get my head round the Lady Gaga obsession. She is all right, but isn't that brilliant, and has an average voice. To me, she appears to be copying Madonna (and is not just 'influenced by her,') and keeps doing all these daft outrageous things (meat dress/popping out of an egg, highly suggestive videos etc..). and its getting old.....she needs to quit the emulating Madonna.
All this is actaully compensating for the fact that she actually isn't incredibly talented. She is an OK pop star, but isn't brilliant, and struck very lucky by finding a bit of a niche in the market. Her live singing leaves a lot to be desired IMO and I do find her overrated.

Her song is a dead ringer for "Express Yourself".
Same song, same ideology as Madonna -- make style over substance your modus operandi.

I think she has more talent than Madonna
So there
So there
Once again 'the Gaga' sparks debates all over, she must be very pleased
Imo she's an attention seeker to the point where i think she craves it but then again are'nt most celebrities?

her last offering ' alejandro' looked like a madonna video, and sounded like abba.. now anyone that can do that deserves recognition...
gaga does have a really good voice when shes performing less poppy numbers.
