Well, thats long enough. I try not to think about it too much, but since the Jade thing, its just a bit more worrying Frowner

i know....... Hug .mine came back not to clever.....but i was transferred to the hospital dept really fast...and am waiting to have my next smear now to check if i've stayed all clear

it is a worry....but best to get these things checked... Hug
SS
LMS.... I shouldn't worry, as others have said the 'Jade effect' will mean there will have been an increase in demand.

I used to work in the labs and the girls that do the screening (Cytoscreeners) had a similar situation when Alma on Coronation Street had cervical cancer.

They ended up with a 16 week backlog, and all the girls and any other staff qualified to do screening were working all hours to catch up.

It depends how well staffed your local lab is (Cytoscreening is quite low paid, and predominently staffed by females... so maternity leave is common. Its also highly skilled and takes a long time to train and qualify staff.... we were ALWAYS understaffed when I worked there).

You could always give your GP a ring and ask him to chase it up for you.

I can only echo what other posters have said. The increase in smear tests soared after Jade died, that has meant the usual waiting time is increased in some areas.

I went for mine in light of what Jade went through, the results took 9 weeks and showed a problem, it was about 3 weeks until I was in the hospital having treatment.

Without the publicity of Jade, I can honestly say I wouldn't have gone for a smear, and if I hadn't have gone my pre cancerous cells may have been much more. Jade's definately saved lives!
