This brings back memories of Nigel Jones who was the MP for Cheltenham back in 2000 when he was attacked with a machete and suffered serious injuries to his hands. His aide Andrew Pennington tried to protect him but was killed in the attack.

I've amended the title of this to reflect what has just been announced
It's truly sickening
Devastated, brilliant and caring MP
A very sad loss
shocking and so sad she was a force for good
Tragic beyond words. Those poor children.
This is has just been on the local news being a local MP. I am saddened and bewildered in equal measure. Senseless. Why, just why!
Poor family.
Statement from Jo's husband Brendan...
Shocking. Truly, truly shocking.
RIP, Jo
bloody awful, ive read about people heard him shout britain first, then others said he didnt, now theres a big row on social media about brexit & remain and they seem to be forgetting some bloke has just had his wife murdered & 2 kids have lost their mom
Desperately sad. I first saw it on Queenie's Facebook site. We went through a period of hoping for the best but the initial eye witness reports were not good.
Two young children.

thank you El, I did pop back to change it and noticed you had.
The more I hear about her the sadder it is..she was a truly exceptional woman
"and may her children be bathed in love "
Parliament being recalled on Monday to pay their respects to Jo. Just shows what a good person she seemed to be by all accounts (I know nothing about her and actually had tears yesterday)
I'm sure they were Donks, but really? in Britain? and in such a callous way as that? Especially when all she tried to do was help people
Nice tribute to "all who needlessly lost their lives this week" on "The Last Leg" just now.
They cut live to the Batley Community Choir (which Jo Cox was involved with) performing "The Rose" at the local church.
I've just turned over to +1 EL

Yes....I understand what you are saying......but when the murderer/press labels it as a 'cause' it becomes more of a 'threat' ......
The man accused of killing the Labour MP Jo Cox has appeared in court.
Thomas Mair told Westminster Magistrates' Court, "Death to traitors, freedom for Britain", when asked to confirm his name.
Mr Mair, 52, is charged with murder, GBH, possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence and possession of an offensive weapon.
He was remanded in custody.
