I mean .... great to watch ... but could you honestly be bothered ? ... or would you have the time?

By the time you'd bought all that stuff to make homemade soap - chutney - stockings - trimmings - teddy bears etc you would have shelled out an absolute fortune .... & lets not forget, she had experts to help her, make the teddy - make the chutney & make the soap ..... we wouldn't

& if she says fekkin MEADOW GATE one more time ... I'm gonna scream!!!!

By the time you had bought everything you need you would be better off popping down Asda and getting is ready made
Exactly

Her point is supposed to be: you don't need to spend a forutne at christmas  ... but after watching for the 2nd night I suddenly realised all the stuff you would need for the initial out lay would cost a absolute  bomb
Kinda defeats the object

Angelicarwen, what a lovely thing to do. It's more time-consuming than you think, isn't it? I know, because I made a scrapbook for my mum with photos of a holiday we took her on. It took ages, but she loves it so much... Putting handwritten notes on the pages makes it even more special.
Thanks for the tip fabienne. Any more would be most welcome.

I have started with the meaning of her names , birthstone , birth flower etc and I'm toying with the idea of putting all her 1sts in the next page (you know , first time rolled over , first word etc) but I'm not sure

That's a great idea.   The book I did was just a collection of photos, in chronological order of the events of the holiday, with a few notes to remind her of what we did on that day, so I didn't have to be very creative.  I want to do her another one with special photos of her and my dad, who died a couple of years ago, but there are so many photos, it's difficult to know which ones to choose...  I think the best thing is to choose all the photos you are going to use before you start the project, and then try to arrange them so that they go well together as double-page spreads, etc.

You can't really go wrong, because it's put together with love, and she will love it, I'm sure.

Oh and pengy I hadn't thought about doing a version for myself I found the scrapbook in my cupboard so wouldn't be sure where to get another.
then keep some bits and pieces until you find the right book - I found a nice book in WH Smiths for just this sort of thing   you might even find a nice one in the pound shop    you absolutely must do one for yourself  maybe to give as a private present on her 18th or 21st Birthday present

My mum did baby books for me and my brother.   My brothers is barely filled in (I guess my mum struggled to keep up to it after having him, the second child)... but mine is fab.

it has all my firsts in it....   It has a lock of my baby hair... my first words, photo of first tooth...

it goes right up to me being 3...

I LOVE my baby book... I always have loved it.     I tried to do similar for my kids... but I didn't do too well at keeping them up to date.   Instead my kids have 'memory boxes'... where I would put random stuff...   My son's west ham baby gro...   Daughters little osh kosh dungarees and first reeboks.   Little Nutbrown Hare...   loads of stuff.

Your daughter will love her scrapbook.   You will too, when you look back on it.

I get the feeling you are an organised person... you will need to be.    SCrapbooking supplies are highly addictive... CAN cost a fortune (but don't have to)... but do take over your house.

Do you have a The Range shop near you?   They have quite a good range of stock...

The Range

& Tesco is starting to sell more & more of this stuff.

That said... there are a billion and one online retailers... like I said.. it can start to take over your house....   I had to give all that up a year or so ago...  we were drowning in craft stuff!

I'm going to answer original  OP, and off topic

Kirsty   had access to glass blowers for her baubles , seamstresses for her stockings, and florists for her wreaths and trees.

I do like her , and Phil in Location x three though

If I was Angelic in another dimension.......I would go for the memory, scrap book stuff in a big way.

I kept a record of my first born for about a year, and forgot all the rest that happened

The younger two are really jealous that I didn't do it for them, so go for it Angelic, and don't forget subsequent sprogs
