KATE - yesterday
Good Lord!
That has to be photo shopped!
Pirate, you do make me laugh.
On the other hand, the French magazine who published the pics of Kate are loathsome!
Pirate, you crack me up
This whole thing is horribly reminiscent of what the press did to Princess Diana.
I hope they go after the magazine and ruin it. I'd like to think that all those who support Catherine's right to privacy will stop buying Closer magazine.
Pirate
I would think that Kate had an expectation of privacy here but you cannot guarantee that the foreign press will uphold the same morals and standards that are supposed to be upheld in this country so the moral of the story is don't sun bathe topless because there's always one pig of a camera man desperate for the money shot
@ this thread, was slightly scared when i clicked that you may have linked the actual pic!

Yup exactly right.

I havent heard all the story but from what i have heard, Kate was in a secluded place, miles from nowhere. I find it sad that she cant have some privacy. I imagine heads will roll, William has been reported to be furious these pictures were printed. I cant say i blame him tbh.
french privacy laws are supposed to be strict, it was in a private residence in a secluded place, she must have felt "safe" and now, violated

problem is the fines for breaching privacy law are so small, the publishers will weigh up the extra revenue ex[ected from pics taken like this and the amount of the fine.
Silvio Berlusconi owns the publishing house for that Closer magazine. I feel really sorry for them, and can see them taking on less/fewer* engagements and holing themselves up in Anglesey. Can't say I blame them either, they deserve their own private, intimate down time.
* edited to add fewer
Alternatively - they are on a tour representing the UK
They know they will be the focus of high attention
So what does she do? Silly girl really
Oh and i DO believe they have the right to privacy and it HAS been violated

She was on holiday and off-duty when these pics were taken, not in the middle of an official tour. She's not a silly girl...how patronising!
When was it taken - was it not just recently while they were on tour?
"The photographs were taken last week while the couple were staying in Provence at a chateau owned by Lord Linley, the Queen's nephew, ahead of their trip"
Yep - my mistake, sorry
Yes it was recently, this summer. They were having a private break in Viscount Linley's home in Provence before their tour on behalf of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. They weren't on a public beach, camping in the woods or cavorting round the balcony of Buckingham Palace, but in a private home doing private things.
edit: Okay...seen your reply Saint.
I think she was a bit naive to think she would be "safe".The paps now have them as a prime "target" abroad.
Alternatively . . she does have very nice croissants
Sorry . . . bit patronising

Agree
Is she not a bit daft to go topless and assume nothing could possibly happen?

Sorry . . . bit patronising
Not patronising on this occasion, just cheap smut

That's me name - don't wear it out
Exactly! She probably only wanted an all over tan and didn't think that someone a mile away with a massive telephoto lens was having a pervy look.
I can't help but think it is more ill placed judgement from our Royal Family.
Harry in Vegas - now Kate's tiddies . . . shouldn't they be more careful?

Lets think about it another way. Aren't they allowed moments to be carefree?

Just been on the news. Same mag is responsible for pictures of French President's missus on holiday in a bikini in a 'secluded' spot
only way to go if they don't want to end up like Diana. I'm really angry at this. While Harry might have brought it on himself (not that I care, he's young and single), Will and Kate thought they had complete privacy.
They reckon any fines handed out to them will be outweighed by the revenue they get in
Aside from the fact that I'm sure she'll be mortified at having the pictures published, what i think is more disturbing is the fact that they were on holiday, relaxing, alone ans now they know someone was spying on them. It must be horrible to think that you seemingly are never able to escape prying eyes. What a horrible way to live your life thinking that you can never be alone.

This! And the fact that their security could be compromised at any given moment.
If there was something more salacious and scandalous than a couple of relative newlyweds enjoying themselves and each others' company then I could see a valid argument for this intrusion. As it is, it's just unfair to them both, and as I mentioned, more reason for them to withdraw from public life and stick two fingers up at the media, the fashion designers queueing up to dress her and all those unfortunate charities that benefit from their patronage.
