Love all these old pictures. I have loads yet to be scanned from the original, but my cousin has just returned from a trip to Ghana and he took a pic of a pic that hangs in my late grandparents' home hall of fame/shame and plonked it on facespace. It shows my grandparents (with two great-grandmothers either side) and their 10 kids and some of the grandchildren. My older brothers were in the UK at the time, but I'm the babe in arms (of my mum) and my dad is sticking out like a sore thumb at the back.

Anyway, some more up to date pics from Ghana. These are from my village's Odwira Festival last week, which is kinda like an annual Harvest/Thanksgiving celebration. Everyone turns out in their finest and there's lots of colour and noise. My grandmother in the picture I posted before was the Queen Mother of the village and when she died it was passed on to my aunt who is sitting on her royal throne in these pics. My uncle is the Chief. Check out his serious bling!

Course you can Rexi. I haven't been since the 90s coz I had these minor irritations called children, and it always falls during term time. Apparently this years' was the best because they got sponsorship from a mobile phone company and made the party last for 4 days

Suzy, I'm looking at the great pic of your family and the guy sticking out at the back is white. Eggshells, but, is your dad white then? I thought you were all a shower from lovely Ghana.

Yes he is Col, don't worry about eggshells  My parents met at uni in the UK in the 60s and my dad followed my mum to live in Ghana for a few years.

And cheers Dame
