Are you suggesting that he just gets plastered and then won't care about eating ?

Presumably, recipes without using pans would be best here.

Pasta and sauce. Dirt cheap!
You can make your own sauces using tinned tomatoes, tomato puree, and whatever vegetables or beef you like.

Buy a big bag of pasta from Lidl or Aldi - it'll last you a while. Iceland is good for stew packs - carrots, turnip, onion, leek etc for about a quid - use it to make stews (Obviously) soups, bubble and squeak etc

Me too. Well, after the initial outlay for a baggy coat with lots of pockets anyway.
Buy all fruit and veg from the market, its miles cheaper... buy stuff on offer in supermarkets - e.g. at the minute Waitrose have an offer where you can chose any 3 out of packs of chicken, lamb chops, pork, salmon and steak for a tenner, which is dead good value - just freeze the stuff you're not gonna use in the next couple of days
I dunno if you have Wilkinsons, but they are ace for cheap cleaning products (washing powder, bin bags, washing up liquid etc)

For a quick snack, easy sausage rolls.
Fry sausages until half cooked
Take slices of bread, remove crusts & roll flat with a rolling pin,
butter the bread with English mustard, roll around sausages & secure with a cocktail stick, brush with olive oil & bake in the oven until crispy.

Look out for offers where (say) the single pack price is ÂĢ2, but you get two for ÂĢ3. When they put them through the till it automatically deducts ÂĢ1 off the bill - so far so ordinary ...
if they reduce them coz they are short dated to (say) ÂĢ1 per pack and you buy two, the till still deducts ÂĢ1.
So you get two packs for ÂĢ1. Brilliant

Red lentils are a really cheap alternative to mince in things like chilli, pasta sauce etc.
You don't have to soak the red ones for ages either.
Can have a little bit of an anti-social side effect though
