I heard about Phil.  Not surprised - even on a warm day it gets bliddy chilly out in the middle of the Thames.  Game old buzzard though.  As is Her Maj.

I was dead impressed - every time I looked they were on their feet.. must have been standing for about 5 hours solid.  Not bad for 90+

The old feel the cold much more.  You could say it's a bit ill-planned to have them go down the Thames at the start of June, which is really still late spring rather than summer.

I've been on that river in mid August with glorious hot weather, Carnelian, and it still gets way too chilly - enough to need a jacket   I know they were sheltered for most of it, but that won't have helped once that wet feeling gets to your bones.

Her Maj must be pretty upset that he's not there with her.

I'd bagged a place at a flat next door to MI6, so was three sheets to the wind for most of it

He does belt out tunes rather than sings them.  I think he's become a bit of a caricature these days and has forgotten that unless you're in a sports stadium, songs are to be sung rather than shouted.

did you see the choir singing at the end.. their hair was plastered to their heads and the rain was running off them - they must have been frozen.  

My only other comment on the flotilla was it a p*ss poor fireworks display.    Some gadgey lit half a dozen Roman candles and that was it I think.

That doesn't surprise me at all, that's my recollection from years ago when it was much colder on the river than its banks.

I think I'll record the rest... I can't be watching stuff for three hours at a stretch.
