Hmmm. Is anyone-else bothered by the dodgy editing of that clip? What he said was "Can you keep your mouth shut for a moment, luv?" This was confirmed on HIGNFY (and indeed at the end of the clip). So... why the use of the bleeper? He didn't swear, so why did someone edit it to make it sound as if he did?
No idea, think the BBC may of used that because it was live and they thought he was going to swear. Could be wrong though

It wasn't "bleeped" live - Marguerita (and others on YouTube) heard it fine at the time.
Besides, if you listen carefully to it, it's clear that the bleep doesn't drown out anything Prescott actually said - the bleep has been inserted between Prescott's actual words. It really does sound like a deliberate attempt to give the false impression that Prescott was swearing...

I was talking in a general manner Locke [call me Olly tis easier].. .not specifically to the threads on here. .if somebody is insulting people no matter how daft the insult . .an insult it is.. or a put down at the very least..

We may have to agree to disagree on that one..  but that is how I take things on Forums and in RL..

Come on squiggel its just a bit a fun, I mean seriously how can it be insulting to be called a prawn Sarnie, I mean you could always call us Labour supporters a spam butty, I am sure no one would be insulted
The point I'm trying to make is that we don't insult you or call you names, so doesn't that seem a little unbalanced?  I know that its all treated as a 'little bit of fun' and I certainly don't want to be a killjoy but it can verge on the edge some times, as it did the other night.

As a "liberal conservative" I guess I fall into the catagory of "prawn sarnie", and to be fair, I really do enjoy a prawn sarnie from time to time, so maybe there's something in it...
OK then if that's the consensus from us (forward thinking) liberal conservatives who's going to come up with some alternative name calling that we can lob at those Labour types (as GJ refers to them)? Leave your answers here please.

I like to think of them as "those who have yet to see the light", and I have great faith that they will, in time, realise what a wonderful government we have, fresh faces, fresh ideas, fresh politics.  These are exciting times, for all of us.

Aw go on you start, you know you want to...ref: tiddly

Like I said, I saw it live and even Matthew Amroliwala was grinning at him. He came up with some sensible ideas and then all the hecklers/legal protesters  gave him a round of applause (with some audible whoops whoops from behind the camera). I have no idea why they would try to make it appear that he swore....that's not what I heard or saw.

I bet I know which fella it is too.
Indeed! I'll have to OK it with m'Dad since he was the one affected. Suffice to say he was secretary of a small group of senior citizens with macular degeneration who asked their MP to be a visitor next time he was in the area. Naive fools! The MP concerned asked for a fee of several kilopoonds.
