It was confirmed today, as you probably know, that Joanna was murdered. I feel so sorry for her parents, i have a daughter near her age, and my heart goes out to them .

At least she was found quite quickly....
This is reminding me of another case in reading i think it was a few years ago...in that case it turned out it was the boyfriend (after he had appeared appealing for info at press conferences)

Yes she was Croc (sorry cant quote) The boyfriend was crying and spoke in the past sense very quickly, but i am sure the Police know more than they are saying. At this time of year, you worry about your kids going out etc. I have lectured mine till i am exhausted...

I have a 24 year old....
This is so heartbreaking - I hope they find the truth soon

I've thought there was something odd from the beginning, dunno if it's the BF, but I dunno....

I seem to recall hearing that the Police have body language experts watching the families and friends at the press conferences to see if they are genuine. I think that's why they encourage boyfriends and such to make appeals.
I feel for the parents of this girl, how dreadful for them. There can be nothing worse as a parent than to lose your child but especially to a crime like this

It's all very strange, but have the police not said the boyfriend is a witness and nothing else?... the boyfriend was my first thoughts, seems odd that even if he was visiting relatives he hadn't spoken to her for two days.
Why was the receipt from Tesco's in her house, but not the pizza she bought? And why was her coat, keys and bags there?
I have a strong suspicion that somebody followed her from the pub, invaded her space and killed her. Yes, I feel the boyfriend might be a suspect, but the police have ruled him out.

Wasn't the boyfriend away at his parents house? I thought that was why he was ruled out as a suspect. I think someone knocked on her door and coaxed her out of the house somehow which is why all her personal items were still in the house. The pizza? She could have given it to someone on the way home, maybe someone homeless who won't see TV or the papers to make a connection.
It's bizarre that the police seem to have no leads of any kind. Also I wonder what they mean by 'several days' when they say that's how long her body was in the snow. She disappeared on the 17th and was found 8 days later. Was she held captive somewhere and then dumped? If forensics find nothing in or around the house she left of her own accord yet nobody saw her? None of it adds up.
If she was strangled there must be DNA on the neck of some sort there is no way you can completely cover up that kind of contact. Got to hope the police know a lot more than they are letting on I'd hate to think the bastard who did it will get away with it.

The boyfriend was away when the last sighting of her on CCTV was made....but as its not been established when or where she was killed that rules him out of nothing.

They don't know where she was killed but they'll know exactly when. The police have just said for the first time the boyfriend is not a suspect so presumably he has an alibi for where he was at the time of the murder.

What i have read is , She got a phone call to get a pizza and a bottle of cider, the cider hasnt been mentioned, except on Sky ?? The boyfriend came home to find her keys etc and phoned the Police?? I myself have been out for the day, never got my phone and people worry, but they havent phoned the Police. Anyway i worry, and take care everyone, but i feel this is more a domestic issue .................
Well the Clifton bridge has 32 cameras on it (or summat like that), and it's the bridge they would have had to have used to get to where her body was found, so hopefully something will show up.

Karma, apparently there is a way round it, a bit like The Forth Road Bridge, you can bypass it, only if if you knew how too, anyway i am off to bed, but my heart does go out to her parents
Same here skylark. We discuss this, but if it was my daughter, I'd feel suicidal.

The only consolation is, if there is one is that her parents actually know what happened to her
TBH, I don't think there is a consolation sprout. I've been through my daughter trying to end things and it's the worst nightmare, realising that she was still alive is the best news you can get

Oh blimey Cologne! Hope things are as ok as they can be now for you.
What I meant was, the parents know she has been found, albeit not with them any more

Sprout darling, I know what you meant, but it just isn't the news you want to hear. Trust me, I have been through this (not abducted, but not knowing if she would pull through). The only news you want to hear is that your child is alive, anything else is the nightmare.
the boyfriend was my first thought too ........... this is so tragic , every parents worst nightmare
A murder like this at this time of year must be horrendous for her family. They are stuck with this reminder every Christmas The Gov't should bring back the death penalty for things such as this instead of feeding the culprits in jail - with all the perks some of the poore families outside never get. My heart goes out to her family.
I thought it was strange today watching the news conference, when the police was asked if she was fully clothed they said yes, when asked again if she had a coat on the police said she was FULLY clothed but they didn;t want to go into details, which too me mean't she did have a coat on, not the one found in the flat, which suggests she went out on her own choice, i still think the boyfriend has something to do with it *nods*
The dealth penalty is the very worst thing to bring back from the 'dark ages' of law and order. Why would you want to see a person die?

If i were the girls parents, i would gladly watch the person responsible die... Just my opinion but i guess thats how they must feel at this time.
I agree Crispy and i hate the way on the news they keep saying the post mortem couldn't go ahead as her body was frozen, can you imagine how her parents must feel hearing that
If i were the girls parents, i would gladly watch the person responsible die................ ...... me too
But that's just the problem. I would like the person to be dead if they killed my daugher, but fortunately we have a judicial system which gives everybody a fair trial. To be off your head with grief is not the way to go about dispensing justice.
I think the BF is always the first to suspect in cases like this. Sometimes it is proven ........sometimes it has nothing to do with them. I don't like to jump to conclusions - as I say - it isn't always the case.
What a truly horrible situation ............I guess people always think 'there's no smoke without fire etc. etc,) Whtever or whoever happened it's very tragic for the parents and possibly tragic for the BF - somehow though I don't think he'll be getting much sympathy. I just hope they find the murderer sooner rather than later.

oh yes i hope they find who done this to this girl, but the pizza box seems to be playing a large part in the investigation , its a mystery where it went and the police think this as well , this case is really upsetting me i dunno if its the time of year or she was such a vibrant young girl , but something is not right , i can just sense it

That's how I feel, I do feel it's someone she must know, it's really strange
Why is the pizza missing when her keys, coat and bag where in the house? If that doesn't sound like a domestic problem, it must be somebody watching her in the pub she was in and following her home all the way. What else can it be?
I also think she knew her killer. the pizza is a mystery though
She could have ate the pizza at someone elses house (an affair etc) the boyfriend was away
very strange , she was last seen buying the pizza , receipt in her pocket , but no sign at all of the box ?? .......... where did it go ?
She could have ate the pizza at someone elses house (an affair etc) the boyfriend was away.............. ooh that makes me even more suspicious of the BF
I always wanted too be a policewoman

Of course somethings not right ...........she was found murdered. The missing pizza is indeed a mystery - surely if it had been eaten in the house they'd have found traces. Did she take it somewhere? Why would she leave the house without a coat? All very strange but ...............someone could easily have followed her into the house - it could well be someone she knew.
I'm not saying it wasn't the boyfriend - it may well have been him (did they actually live together incidentally) or was it more casual. All I'm saying is - if it wasn't him ............what a horrible position to be in.
angie dickinson lol * googz her * my dad loved her i'm re-incarnation of mrs columbo i'm always looking for clues and nitpicking but usually my gut instinct is right , in this case i hope not
I would gladly bring back capital punishment for crimes that are pre-meditated, done out of sheer malice with no other agenda or reasoning than to callously kill and 100% proven through DNA, CCTV...etc
For example, Hindley and Brady, Rose and Fred West, the murderer of Sarah Payne, Osama Bin Laden....I would pay to have a ringside seat to their very slow and painful execution cos to me they had no respect for an innocent's life so why should they get mine?
Capital Punishment is a debate that always pops up in threads like this an my viewpoint has always been the same. Some people don't deserve to have the luxury of rehabilitation.
