What a gal! You have to hand it to her she wasn't giving up was she? I do think that if you have fought for this country you have the right to live here.

valid point tupps
I think we should make her PM. What she is doing in respect of the Ghurkhas, is fantastic. I hope she is successful and shame on this Government.
I could say she is driving me mad, BUT this so needed sorting out, so well done her.
My God what a woman.I admire her tremendously, she really would be someone to have on your side in times of trouble. She has come out all guns blazing, tackling a subject that most people may not have given a second thought to. Well done Joanna and the Ghurkas.I think she's wonderful.

It's nice to see that she's turned herself around now she's stopped hanging around with that Jennifer Saunders in her basement flat.
I like her, its nice to see someone like her doing something for others and you know she is being genuine not just drumming up publicity.

SHe is absolutely fabulous!!!
As for this Government, why do we need to 'decide' whether the Ghurkas stay, it should be automatic...when every other Tom, Dick & Harry is bleeding us dry....shame on them!!!

Wonderful lady
I think she is absolutely - I nearly said fabulous - superb! But I will have to readjust my mind-set because whenever I see her I immediately think of 'Bolly' and 'Lacroix daahling!'

Every time she made a point, she stared at Woolas and waited for him to nod in agreement before carrying on to the next point ... priceless!

I'm with you Lassie - she'd make a brilliant PM.
Joanna even got a mention on Question Time last night and the panel were talking about her becoming an MP as she is so eloquent and erudite and, above all, tremendously gritty in her quest for fair play.
It's not just the Gurkhas for whom she fights so steadfastly, she also supports many other issues as well.
We let so much dross into this country so why are the Gurkhas who have fought and died for this country for over 200 years not allowed to take up residency? We at least owe them that.
It shouldn't be something which they have to plead and beg for, it should be a natural right of passage.
Well done Joanna for nailing Mr Woolas yesterday.
She was like a dog with a bone and was just not going to let go and he was backed into a corner by her. Made for brilliant TV.

Absolutely agree with you there Hyacinth
apart from being someone i have always admired, just because she doesn't mind acting characters than are NOT flattering. she has campaigned for what she believes in (and a worthy cause, i might add) rather than do the naff route, like an appearance on some charity tv show.
belated happy birthday joanna lumley!

And all the while speaking in that lovely, soft voice of hers - quite a combination!

Absolutely - she never loses her cool does she although she's probably seething inside.
That's her strength really. If it were me, I'd be going ballistic and ranting and raving nineteen to the dozen which gets you nowhere in the grand scheme of things.
I so admire her tenacity with regard to this cause. She is one amazing lady.
I'd be quite happy to be backed into a corner by Joanna Lumley.
Looking forward to her becoming Dame Joanna Lumley. She makes me proud to be British. She's beautiful, classy, dignified, stylish, talented, compassionate and intelligent.
I adore her.

Does anyone remember seeing her on that desert island programme? So stunning, but so totally lacking in vanity!

Classy, articulate, dignified, and everything Mrs BBV said! I do hope she will be made a Dame, rather than being overlooked by people who really contribute not very much, it's the people who try to make a difference that should be rewarded, NOT Actresses and such IMO. Dame Joanna Lumley!

She's lovely, and did you see the one where she went in search of the Northern Lights, the wonder on her face when she managed to see them in all their splendour!
What programme was this on?
With her beauty she could afford to be though couldn't she? I don't think she realises quite how lovely she is, which makes her even more endearing.

saw both these progs, she surprised me with the island one, never imagined her doing that.
she shot up a few knotches in my 'best gal on tv' award.
the northern lights were amazing and on my list of things to do!
i fancy her...

I was just trying to think Trollop and I couldn't remember. I think that maybe it was on BBC2 some while ago and then popped up on one of the various channels on Sky. Worth keeping an eye out though because, as you know, they are always repeating these things. It was quite a show at the end, glad I didn't miss it and hope you get to see it.

and I wonder how many years older than you she is, quite amazing isn't it? And her beauty is not just skin deep like so many of the young beauties around nowadays.
I'll vote for her!
I think she's doing a great job. Nice to use your celebdom for something positive too.
Ooh and she looks so good for her age doesn't she? Wasn't she the advert for Nivea face cream? There's just something about her that you can't help but like. Probably that she's smiling a lot. I like smiley people
