Ha...That made me smile...awkwardly!

I do wonder sometimes, if the men in long blonde wigs that are very often portrayed to have a penchant for young males and sit on a bench of great power...whether they are really above the law...and are those who shout that they are the spare hands of God actually of a mind that it is their god given right to invade a childs space ?

It sickens me...but then a lot of what goes on in this world sickens me too!

Yet..

There is a lot of good...a hell of a lot of good!

I said earlier I want to hear all sides of the story and I still stand by that. I don't doubt what these girls feel. At 14 years old....what were they doing at parties with drink and drugs and celebrities? Where were their parents? If something happened to them then where the hell were the parents?

I went to see New Kids on the Block when I was 14. We had crap seats but Jordan's mom was up on the balcony and when he sang I held up my programme with his page open. She waved at me and gave me a thumbs up. 30 mins later the security guy asked me if I wanted to go to a party with NKOTB after. I would've gone in a shot but I knew my mum and dad were waiting outside and I would get my arsed kicked for being late.

Pengy -a lot of these girls were in care homes and a lot of the abusing didn't happen at parties. He used to broadcast live from his van/motorhome - young kids were part of the programme - it really wasn't all about girls at parties etc. He sought them out.

From the links on here it is about parties and stuff though. Famous man with famous friends. Top of the Pops. Party. If he's a paedophile then I hope he rots in hell but all this talk of parties with celebs etc. If they were old enough at 14 to be at a celebrity party in a private room then where the hell were the parents?

I think you might find the programme more enlightening Cag - (sorry called you Pengy earlier) none of the stuff on there involved parties (I haven't actually seen anything about parties) the links I've posted have been from his van, recording studio, hospital ward and the girls who came forward with evidence were from a care home/approved school - I'm guessing their parents weren't too bothered. JS appears to have preyed on the young, sick and vulnerable - those whose voices were not likely to be listened to. I've seen nothing of show biz parties - I think JS shunned all that.

As I say - I think you would find it a bit of an eye opener to watch the programme.

I don't want to offend cologne.  It's Just a caricature of how many of us felt he  was a hero, selflessly working for the betterment of disadvantaged children.  It's now looking like we were duped!

It's ok Carnelian, I understood that. I pictured him with every phrase and then thinking about what may have been behind it just made me feel awful.

I think the opposite will happen Yellow. People will donate in spite of him.

And no-one says anything?

CINDY he flaunts the fact - we refuse to meet up with him anymore.

We got no proof he's done anything wrong except for "seeing" her.

Well you all ought to be ashamed of yourselves for not saying anything to him.  Do her parents know a 48 year old man is 'grooming' her?

Well Cinds its this culture of rushing to judge without knowing the full facts that probably stop victims coming forward.

Saint, a 48 year old with 15 yr old g/f is wrong regardless of how intimate they are. Out of curiosity has he made a big deal about her being 15 infront of any female friends?

Judging without knowing the full facts has nothing to do with it.  A 48 yr old man having a relationship with a 15 yr old girl is wrong.  You yourself said you don't have anything to do with him now because of him flaunting it, so you obviously feel something is not right.  Like I asked before, do her parents know.  Because I know damn well my parents would not have been happy if I at 15 was very close to a 48 year old man.

I despise the lot of them now. Emotive, I know, but there it is.

These stories about Saville have been circulating for over 30 years. His behaviour was sickening..he abused the girls, his power, and all the people who praised and rewarded him for all the charity work he did. I feel he was a nasty piece of work, who thought by doing all these wonderful things for charity made him untouchable, when in fact it was just a smoke screen for his repeated abuse of young girls, who as I have said before are now damaged women. I hope these women get some sort of compensation  for the pain he caused them....As for Liz Kershaw, what a complete idiot.

I hear what you're all saying about Liz Kershaw, but I'm conflicted about this whistle blowing thing sometimes.

I have worked in some very sexist arenas in my time. My tenure in an investment bank in the 1990s was a complete baptism of fire, and if I'm honest I just got on with things for the most part because I wasn't confident enough to make waves.

I think the failure in this case, and in my own, was that it was accepted and unchallenged from the top.

I've worked in some high powered jobs as well were sexism was rife, but if any of the man had behaved that outragedly, I would have been on the barricades. I looked up to Liz Kershaw and the other female DJs. I am livid to find out that some of them could have stopped this or at least put a spoke in the wheel.

Why doesn't she name that person and get this out in the open then

She should name and shame... but maybe she wants to see how much support she will get (ie job security) before she puts it out there... for want of a better term.

Sorry, but at the very least this is the time to name and shame now. She (and others) will only benefit from being honest now, rather than hide behide what exactly?

Don't get me wrong.  I didn't stand for it personally, but I wasn't about to act like the people's champion for others who could stand for themselves, especially as I'd already had experience of sticking up for for people who then joined forces with their oppressors against me.  If I'd heard anything to do with minors I would have caused major fuss then, as I would now.

Oh i totally agree Cologne, infact I'm tearful reading that link just now.......... We feel like we have come so far in human rights.... so many years of abuse and those who feel like they can do what the hell they friggin want as long as they know the right people *wink wink*

word fail me tbh......

I hate to say it but girl and boy victims of this type of abuse and rape victims are regularly believed to have been somewhat complicit in their abuse and this really ticks me off i.e. the clothes they were tempt these men and show the girls/boys/women to be nothing but tarts.   With attitudes like this, it's not surprising that convictions are incredibly low and why more girls/women and boys don't speak out because even in today's supposedly enlightened era, they are not believed.

As an aside I read something by Jeremy Clarkson on the Saville case and he all but said these girls were lying and why on earth would anyone want to investigate it now.  With misogynists like this, what hope have we got?
