It's funny how kids can see people...As a kid even though I watched and enjoyed JFI, I never really liked or warmed to Jimmy Saville,I always found him creepy, and the older I got the more insincere I found him..I feel sorry for those young girls, and Jimmy's awful abuse of them, and the power he had back in the 70's. Shame on the BBC, for brushing it under the carpet, pity those girls who are now women cannot do the same.

Jonathon King and Jimmy Saville and Gary Glitter all seemed alike in that they all walked their own path, were very self confident and flaunted their individuality  regardless of others opinions.

I really daren't mention the two bands concerned but I was at school with a girl who whilst 14/15/16 consorted with 'em. Apparently there were a group of them spread over the UK who just wanted to shag famous people. These adult band members took advantage. Elsewhere Suzanne Moore in t'Grauniad mentioned James Page and John Peel. There were also rumours about a very famous singer preferring the company of young boys. My only hope is that this incident will not remain Savile-centric and that they will take the opportunity to investigate root and branch. I'm sure there is more to it than just Glitter, Jackson, King, and Savile.

They are saying now they may release the tapes made for Newsnight programme that was shelved whilst he was alive, they should be in my opinion. It will prove these allegations were made before he died.

Scotland Yard was appointed to lead the assessment after the Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo) looked at the claims.

An Acpo spokeswoman said: "Following an initial assessment of a number of allegations made against the late Sir Jimmy Savile, a decision has been made to appoint a lead force to manage the police and child protection response. The Metropolitan Police Service has been appointed as the lead force."

I've not taken part in this thread as I find the whole subject so distasteful - and I know all decent people do but I just couldn't bring myself to read anything or discuss it.

 

From what I do know surely there's one good thing that should come out of this. That is that any young person, girl or boy, that are being molested or raped not only by those that aren't in the public eye, but by those who are, however famous or high up in whatever circumstance, should find the courage to report it while the person is still alive. Money, rank or fame shouldn't be allowed to interfere in the Justice system

Freddie Starr's overturned injunction was taken out to prevent the media from reporting on a "false allegation" that he "groped and propositioned" an underage girl in the late Jimmy Savile's dressing room, it has been alleged.
According to court papers obtained by The Sun, a claim was made by a woman that Starr "groped and propositioned" a girl who was then aged 14 at a party in Jimmy Savile's dressing room in the early 1970s.
The publication's account of the papers continues: "When she rebuffed his advances he then is alleged to have publicly humiliated her... At the same party Paul Gadd (Gary Glitter) was alleged to be present and having sex with another underage girl."
Starr, who vehemently denies the "unfounded allegations", obtained a temporary gagging order at the High Court on Tuesday (October 2), but this was discontinued by Mr Justice Tugendhat yesterday (October 4).
Mr Justice Tugendhat declared that the injunction should never have been heard, as the case did not relate to confidential information, but to ''words which are alleged to be libellous''.
The judge added there was "not any evidence" that media outlets intended "to commit an unlawful act", concluding: "The defendants would in any event only publish an allegation that they consider they would be able to defend."
The Mirror reports that Starr said he was "sick to the stomach" when he heard of the allegation being levelled at him.
"It is disgusting and it never happened," he is quoted as stating. "If what is being said about Jimmy is true he's a scumbag. I hate paedophiles. I'd kill them."

Does finding someone creepy mean paedophile? I find a few celebs creepy and they are always surrounded by young girls.

 

I said earlier I want to hear all sides of the story and I still stand by that. I don't doubt what these girls feel. At 14 years old....what were they doing at parties with drink and drugs and celebrities? Where were their parents? If something happened to them then where the hell were the parents?

 

I went to see New Kids on the Block when I was 14. We had crap seats but Jordan's mom was up on the balcony and when he sang I held up my programme with his page open. She waved at me and gave me a thumbs up. 30 mins later the security guy asked me if I wanted to go to a party with NKOTB after. I would've gone in a shot but I knew my mum and dad were waiting outside and I would get my arsed kicked for being late.

I don't want to argue with anyone. I really don't. I didn't watch the programme so I can't comment. I did read a link on here which...OMG...if it was true would have NEVER got as far as it did without getting a few people arrested. I can't see the people involved keeping it quiet and only using it for comedy on their show seeing as the things they said were completely disgusting and more vile than any magazine or news report I've ever heard.

 

It'll get more vile, more disgusting and more degrading....maybe because it happened...maybe because it makes news and maybe because .....somebody said.

 

I still feel uneasy that he can't defend himself. I think in this country we jump on the bandwagon and if it's a "name" and the news and mags tell us...or god forbid...it's on the internet...then it must be true. OMG who next? It's all very well saying he freaked you out but you gotta wonder why 14 year old girls were in his room . Where the hell were the parents? I remember me at 14. I looked 19, got served drink and met a guy from a band called Aztec Camera.

I sound like a nasty bitch. I'm not. It's just all the stories I've heard are about teens, teen idols and parties where pop stars were.

Pengy -a lot of these girls were in care homes and a lot of the abusing didn't happen at parties. He used to broadcast live from his van/motorhome - young kids were part of the programme - it really wasn't all about girls at parties etc. He sought them out.

From the links on here it is about parties and stuff though. Famous man with famous friends. Top of the Pops. Party. If he's a paedophile then I hope he rots in hell but all this talk of parties with celebs etc. If they were old enough at 14 to be at a celebrity party in a private room then where the hell were the parents?
