I find the whole "We turned a blind eye cos of who he was" very worrying.

The very people that champion child protection are guilty of tolerating it where 'appropriate'

Just had a quick read through t'Grauniad and they are going for the approved, "why did the BBC sit on the BBC exposé?" One suspects that if the establishment can get away with one casualty then they will do so. I suspect we won't be finding out anything due to some sort of D Notice/ public interest approach.

Maybe the papers did'nt go after him to destroy him cos he had something on their friends plus he might be one of the funny hand shake brigade..

Several years ago, to their great credit, one of Murdoch's papers decided to publish an article about a south coast criminal (who I daren't mention by name) we were encouraged to buy next week's paper for further news. Nothing! If the papers can be spooked by one criminal, then imagine how concerned they would be if they were dealing with a complex case involving the government, MI5, various Ulster terrorist groups, and local authorities. On the other hand it may be urban myth. I think we should be told. Until then we will continue to enjoy stories about what Cheryl Cerl had for breakfast, and what One Direction are really like.

Do you not think it strange that 10..... not 1 or 2, but 10 grown women have come forward alleging abuse at the hands of the same person?

 

Have you read any of the links in this thread? It's all a bit too coincidental to all be lies.

 

I agree there may be the odd one who is infact lying and just shamefully jumping on the bandwagon (the 911 survivor who wasn't even there springs to mind) but i don't think that's reason to doubt them all.

I look at this 2 ways.

 

As a mother I think it's sickening and if it was one of my own involved I'd kill him with my bare hands

 

As a rational human being I have to question the fact that the man is now dead and unless there is concrete evidence it's all just hearsay. Whether it's 1 or 100 people coming forward...you need proof and with him being dead there's no chance of a fair trial. There's bigger people than him been caught and convicted while they were still alive so I don't believe all this guff about his status and charity work keeping everyone quiet even though they "knew" he was a child molester.

I read a piece in the Telegraph by his PA who worked with him for decades, and cleaned up his flats even. Even though he sacked her and there was no love lost, she said she followed him closely longterm and he was an absolute control freak. He loved being photographed with teenagers but it went no further. He was obsessed with his own image and never did anything to jeopardise it. She said he would never have been so careless to potentially sully his reputation.

 

He may have come across as creepy and unnerving to those who met him, and objectionable in his views even, but theres no concrete evidence as Cagney says that he commited abuse.

Wonder if she went to Jersey with him the time he was and was'nt there....

Yes I agree Cagney that others have been outed but i think the whole thing with the JS  situation is all about the connections - if this story really does blow I believe there are really big names that will come flooding out - I think keeping the lid on the Saville story is just the tip of the ice berg. He was like the loose brick - if he'd been removed a great big wall would topple and that is why so much has been hidden and covered up.

Well he doesn't sound a particularly nice person Stonks, but lying about his whereabouts still doesn't make him guilty of acts of abuse.

If it's true Soozy...I'd love to be proved wrong. Proved being the operative word. Without his testamony it's all one sided. Dates, times, places are irrelevant if he can't at least TRY to defend himself. I could look up his history and tell you I was at a certain place at a certain time and he did something. Prove I'm lying.

 

I know that sounds pedantic but I like to know all sides of a story before I judge and as one side is dead we can never fully know the truth

When I was a child my mother had a friend he called in to see her all the time, never my dad always my mother..I testd the water one time and told her I did'nt like him, she told me off and said I was being nasty that he was a lovely man..so how could I tell her he was a Paedophile?..They are totally different infront of adults and o matter what hat woman says she was'nt with him 24/7....

unfortunately we could never fully the know the truth whether he's alive or dead. Only two people know the truth.    I've only seen a little bit of the reports but from what I gather these women didn't know each other, but have reported virtually the same circumstances and events.   Also saw that they reported it over 30 years ago.   My gut tells me if I child was lying, I doubt very much they'd be reiterating the same lies all these years later.    I've got no trouble believing them tbh.  

 

As for Esther Rantzen etc not saying anything at the time... I only saw her yesterday saying she had to believe now because of how much the stories backed each other up an 'the jury's no longer out' in her head.    Playing devil's advocate, it's a pretty big ask to report someone to the police based on rumour alone.

No worries Kaff....~I remember seeing my best mate one day and she was with another mate I did'nt know too well and she asked me to go to his house with them..(she knew aswell he was a Paedo) and I asked why she was going and she told me cos he had nuddy books and you'd get to see his willy....I said no..she said, "come on you'll get money off him"..I refused and went home..did we tell our parents..no..it never entered our heads to tell a grown up...

See Kaffy that's what i think, even if he was alive he wouldn't come on telly holding his hands up saying "i did it" so i don't see what massive difference him being alive or dead would make.

As far as the PR woman goes ......................maybe she knows different maybe she doesn't.

 

Maybe she knows when to keep her mouth shut - there's some big names behind all this - maybe there's money in it too or worse the threat of who knos what.

 

Maybe I'm over dramatising but surely if this woman admits to knowing anything, aside from all that ^^^^ - she's gonna be despised by all and sundry for keeping it hidden.

 

As far as I can see - she's the only one offering a good word.

i only know cos as a kid i never went to school, but i was an avid reader of newspapers, and back then they were even less discreet than they are now..but i dont remember it ever being followed up..
