Mmmmm, it's a tough one, I really do know what you are saying, but, the other side of it is that it encourages other victims, who may think they were the only ones/would not be believed, the opportunity to come forward. These things are so hard to prove to the necessary level of criminal evidence if it's just one persons word against the other. Look at Savile for instance, never taken to court and when there were rumours he vigorously denied any wrongdoing. 

 

I came looking for this thread to post the news item about Fred Talbot  (Weatherman), but came across the Jimmy Saville death thread and started to read what people had written - I guess we all have 20/20 vision with hindsight!

CORONATION Street star Andrew Lancel left court hand-in-hand with his wife Louise after denying sexually assaulting a teenage boy yesterday.

The actor, who played Frank Foster, pleaded not guilty to six charges of indecently assaulting the youngster who was under 16 at the time.
          He will stand trial on the charges on  June 3. The attacks are said to have happened between 1993 and 1994 when Lancel was training as an actor in Southport, Merseyside. He is due to  stand trial on June 3.
          Lancel, 42, who also played Det Insp  Neil Manson in The Bill, arrived at Liverpool Crown Court holding hands  with his dance school boss wife Louise, 35.
          Wearing a grey suit, white shirt and  black and grey spotted tie, he was granted conditional bail by Recorder  of Liverpool Judge Clement Goldstone pending his trial which is due to  last a week.
          Lancel, who appeared under his real  name Andrew Watkinson, was arrested last November while doing a play  about Beatles’ boss Brian Epstein in Liverpool.
          His lawyer Stuart Nolan said then the  actor had been “invited by police to co-operate with an inquiry by one  complainant about events that allegedly took place over 20 years ago.”
He added: “He is confident his  innocence will be established.’’
Lancel is the second Coronation Street  actor facing court.
          Michael Le Vell, 48, who plays Kevin  Webster, will stand trial in September after being accused of child sex  offences.

Rolf Harris has been questioned.

It would be easier if the police told us what old dudes hasn't been abusing people down the years.

Me too. My daughter's claim to fame is him keeping the door of Boots the Chemist open for her. My ex boyfriend was friendly with his daughter and met him regularly. Never a whiff.

Probably has nothing to do with what he has been charged over, but I never really liked DLT.

They all seemed a bit creepy didn't they? We hated 'em all. However I had to laugh at the news tonight when they managed to dig up a group photo of the Radio One DJs. We were informed that ........ there was DLT standing next to Savile! That proves it then. I'm afraid that DLT was never forgiven for accusing a local family of cheating on his Sunday morning quiz. You can't imagine a more awkward piece of wireless space.

 

At one time there was a whisper about John Peel - I was praying he had not done anything wrong as I feel he is probably the best DJ of all time.

See the singer talked about in one of last weekends tabloids really didn't surprise me (I know he wasn't named, but it was very obvious who it was). 

 

I have seen several names being mentioned since Mondays arrest, but until its confirmed I'd really rather not believe it, because one of them is an idol of mine.

 

In light of the latest charges with DLT, it makes you wonder which 70's DJ will be next. I know if one certain name came out I would be gutted.
