to be honest Erin, it would not stop me giving to Children in Need, and to worry about pledges  Surely any money is better than no money!

I think the Savile debacle will have an effect on the next Children in Need,I hope I am wrong.

I think that's one of the main criticisms of the BBC. The set up and how woeful communications between departments were (and still are, for all I know). It only would have taken 3 or 4 senior producers to ignore the rumours, or even hear first hand accusations like his sister did and ignore them for this to become an institutional failing.

I agree that he had a certain type of intelligence, more cunning than anything. Edwina Currie was trying to absolve herself the other day (she was the Minister in charge of Psychiatric and Secure hospitals like Broadmoor who gave him his own set of master keys) by saying that he was more interested in finding out about the accounts and any mismanagement rather than the well being of the patients. Seems like his M.O. was to find out all the dirt and use it to his advantage.

I think he played the fool quite a bit Suzy, he was a member of Mensa and I agree used is intelligence in the more cunning and deceitful way.

It seems that the warning signs were ignored from all directions and in every part of his life. I just find it hard to understand how many people seen something and how many had fears and nothing was ever done

I can't believe anyone in government would have even contemplated letting him have the freedom he did in Broadmoor, let alone a set of keys

nothing much today except this one

Jimmy Savile regularly took teenage girls to a private hospital block alone for a few hours at a time, a former porter has told Sky News.

Terry Pratt said the Jim'll Fix It presenter was given a key to the nurses' accommodation building at Leeds General Infirmary during the 1990s.

Unlike doctors at the hospital, who had to be let in by a porter, he was allowed to take the keys himself.

The ex-worker claimed that Savile, who was a volunteer and fundraiser for the hospital, would arrive with the girls in the early hours of the morning and then leave before dawn.

Mr Pratt, who was a porter at the Leeds hospital from 1989 to 2010, said Savile came in with girls, who were often "dressed up to the nines", on three occasions in one week.

It is understood Savile had his own office in the hospital's Welcome Wing for 10 years from about the mid-1990s.

Given to him because of his fundraising activities, he even had his name on the door. The wing closed down a few years ago.

A spokesperson for Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust said: "We continue to be shocked by each new allegation. It is important that they are investigated properly.

Maybe Mr Pratt should have done his Porter job better and raised a question about this then ... not now

I'm confident that they'll do all they can to arrest those that have been inflicting their "lifestyle" on those who've been abused. It's best to be sure about guilt than rush to judgement and some get away with it.

I know it's just that they said they' be arresting people almost a week ago and delays give those who think they might be arrested, time to get rid of any incriminating evidence in their houses

I know what you mean, I think the media are trying to drive it forward as quick as they can so to get more readership. Some will no doubt have time to get rid of any incriminating evidence but they'll still have to answer to the accusations from those who've been abused. Hopefully all those who've been hiding in the woodwork will be brought out into the open.

I could be wrong but...  isn't it usual to keep the names of victims secret and name the abuser ?

They usually keep the accused name secret if it will publicise the victims name, usually if they are related....

If this is referring to what was on the internet  a few days ago then it could well be the E.E. actor.

Sezit, would that be the EE actor who isn't that old?  Who in the programme is currently in prison?

....I would if I knew peng but the police won't name him which I think is strange unless it can show the identity to the victim..

In wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal, an unnamed top TV star has been charged with raping a boy of 14 years of age, The Sun newspaper revealed today.

The actor charged with this crime, who cannot be named for legal reasons , has also been accused of three sex attacks, and sexually touching the same boy on a separate occasion, as well as being accused of “assault by beating” when he answered bail at a London police station.

The alleged victim claims he was attacked by the actor at a London theatre back in July 2010, when the boy was just 14 years old, where it is said that the well know celebrity acted “intentionally” when his victim did not consent, contrary to the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

The Met’s Sapphire sex crimes command carried out the probe.

Maybe Mr Pratt should have done his Porter job better and raised a question about this then ... not now

Other porters have stated the nurses quarters  were not locked ,hence no keys.I think there may be some coming forward with "evidence" that isn't true.Still doesn't detract from the main though, however there will be some "Jumping on the bandwagon" .

The estate of television presenter Jimmy Savile has been frozen in response to the sex abuse claims made against him, NatWest bank says.

The bank, which is acting as the late DJ's executor, said: "Given the claims raised, distribution of the estate has been put on hold."

Savile's estate is thought to be worth about ÂĢ4 million.

Lawyers representing those who claim they were attacked by Savile are planning to sue the estate for damages.

Police believe the BBC presenter and DJ could have abused as many as 300 people over a 40-year-period.

Scotland Yard has said it is following about 400 lines of inquiry as part of the operation - which is looking into claims Savile, who died last year aged 84, abused hundreds of young girls and some boys.

Police described Savile as a "predatory sex offender".

just curious, but all these links being posted to all these stories by all these people.. .how are people finding them?  Are you all sat googling anything Jimmy Saville?  Surely the more stuff published the more it weakens any potential legal cases against him or others in the future? Don't the authors of these realise this?
