Hi Velvet... you're dang right   His suspension is probably for show. Just means improved ratings when TG comes back.

Or more money elsewhere

Uh-huh

nah,

its their biggest money maker

its sold all around the world

so long head must've p!ssed someone off

That's what I love about Clarkson, he winds people up...we need presenters like him, if we lose the likes of him off our TV screens we'll be left with the Ben Sheppard's of this world.

But he is indispensable to the show.

Without him TG dies, simple as that.

The other 2 aren't up to scratch as lead presenters, imo.

Captain Slow is....well, he's Captain Slow and I suppose appeals because of that.  The other one, Mini Me, is an annoying, self amused wannabee Clarkson. He even presents in a Clarksonesque way.

I've been following the debate in the other place and it seems that a lot of posters are attempting to pigeonhole individuals within left and right wing ideological positions.
I've read his books and enjoy his columns in the ST. He's a very entertaining bloke.
However, I'm not a big fan of car wankers (to continue with the above nomenclature) People who obsess and fetish cars are a bit daft in my opinion. But we can avoid the prog!

I hardly ever watch the show, but I've a mate who's a big fan and who's been to a filming of it, and my understanding is that it's largely pre-recorded. they can't just stick Sunday's show out with him removed...

I'm with you on this Garage Joe.  Given my lefty views, it's almost expected of me that I should despise Clarkson, but I find him witty, knowledgeable, informed and of course, laddish and childish but I don't mind that.

I don't even think Clarkson is particularly right wing nor sexist either.  I think he enjoys playing up to that persona though.

Pleased I'm not the only one who thinks he's a dick head

Jeremy Clarkson may have presented his final edition of Top Gear after the BBC dramatically suspended the controversial presenter following an altercation with a producer.

The incident is believed to relate to a single punch thrown by Clarkson at a male producer during a dispute last week.

The remaining three Top Gear episodes in the current series have now been postponed.

I have no idea what Clarkson's politics are but I had always assumed he was a lefty/labour person. . no idea why tho, just had him down as a shouty union type. . my personal generalisation I presume..

I don't even watch Top Gear but have seen the bloke on other shows and don't get the 'love' for him. . obnoxious overgrown mean man-kid who is allowed to get away with anything.. he may be intelligent but the negative sides of his persona counteract anything intelligent he may say as it makes me not want to listen..

TELEGRAPH:

"It has also emerged that the three presenters could walk away from Top Gear before the BBC's investigation into Clarkson's behaviour is concluded, as their contracts expire at the end of this month and they have not yet signed new three-year deals that were expected to be completed within days.

Although the BBC owns the rights to Top Gear, Sky has made repeated attempts to lure Clarkson and his co-presenters James May and Richard Hammond to the channel to make a new motoring show, and there is speculation Clarkson may now decide the time is right to move on."

I find that notion very surprising, given his comment about wanting to execute striking public sector workers in front of their families...

I never saw that... or if I did I'd forgotten about it  but, as I said my feelings/perception of him came from a generalisation I made that was clearly wrong.. he just comes across as a bully boy and my perception of Union Officials is the same hence the link in my head to labour/leftie etc.. and hence my blush emoticon in my original post to show my embarrassment that I made a generalisation probably based on my personal feelings rather than facts ..

There's so much more to him than the awful motor show. Apparently he writes for the Sun, but he does write excellent stuff in the ST and even his car reviews are worth reading just for the extra stuff! I also liked his occasional appearances on HIGNFY. Not so much on the self congratulatory QI.
As far as his language and opinions go, a few weeks back we uphold the rights of Charlie Hebdo to indulge in offensive satire as free speech.
If we protect our excellent socialist cartoonists then surely we should not deny Clarkson his rights too.
Meanwhile...........What means "shouty Union officials?"
I never lost my cool or shouted at anybody!
