That doesn't surprise me. From all I've read and heard about his experiments with time signiatures, I'd imagine he'd be thrilled by this. The whole "Time Out album was heavily influenced by the group travelling to India and the Middle East. It's probably most notable on "Blue Rondo A La Turk" (which became the B-side to "Take Five"), which was influenced by music that Brubeck heard on the streets of Istambul.
The other thing I noticed about this version was that they've really "got" the importance of the drums on this piece. We're so used to hearing the sax melody as background music and TV themes that a lot of people get a shock when they hear it as a full recording: it was in fact originally written to give Joe Morello a drum solo!
