It never ceases to amaze me that people in the media with a 'high profile' succumb to this sort of thing - do they honestly think it'll never be found out?

Can't speak for Jason, but I assume that I will never be found out.

Nothing to do with why he left maybe but I thought he was useless on the One Show. Some of his questions to guests were really inane and he has the habit of ending just about every convo by saying "lovely"...what's that supposed to mean. I put up with it for a few weeks but he was so bad at interviewing I stopped watching.

It wasn't really him, was it?  He was ok, but that role is more suited to banal every-men non-personalities like Adrian Chiles or Dermot O'Leary.  I like him as a comedian and comedy panellist but chit-chatting with the boring guests of the type he often spends the rest of his time mocking looked a bit inconsistent.  I think he was wasted on that show and would be better suited on an evening show.  I prefer Alex Jones as more natural and  attractive to the grinning and vastly over-hyped Christine Bleakley.

Jason Manford has left his role on The One Show, according to reports.

The front page of The Sun tomorrow is expected to carry the story of the Manchester comedian's departure from the BBC.

Manford's agent Katie Phillips said that the star handed his resignation to the show's bosses "to ease the situation surrounding newspaper allegations", says PA.

Earlier this month, he apologised for sending sexual messages to a fan via Twitter.

Of Manford's decision to quit, a spokesperson for the BBC apparently responded: "We have got nothing to say except that we accept Jason's decision."

The 29-year-old, who replaced Adrian Chiles on the primetime magazine show, later joked that he may not be with the programme much longer.

He's a drip and unfunny anyway. He's been talking of becoming a dad and how great it was, in the same breath he feels the need for sexual something or other with strangers. Mmmm.

Perhaps on the One Show he isnt... but his gigs are very good. The One Show isnt exactly a place for comedians to crack their jokes.

I caught the one show with him on it for the first (& last ) time on Wednesday when he had duran duran on, he wasn't no where near as funny as he usually is,
his lived shows and radio appearances are brilliant.

Oh! I've just realised what day it is. They had me fooled.

The One show replaced one annoying bird with a clone and brought in a comedian rather than a journo...it was doomed from the start and Manford's *indiscretions* put the icing on a rather wonky cake

He wasn't very good on the One Show, interviews were awkward and stilted whenever I watched.

Better that he sticks to panel shows like 8 out of 10 cats.

I agree with this - glad he's gone - I don't like Chris Evans or Matt Baker much but at least they can present well.

And as for his off air shenanigans - bloody disgrace

One wonders why he feels the need to admit anything to the repressed gentlemen of the Sun?

I can't help thinking 'And?'.  Embarrassing for him, embarrassing for his family, with much explaining for him to do but other than that, I can't see what the fuss is about and why he should need to resign over it.  It's hardly Wayne Rooney territory!  Is there more to this than Sky/The Sun have mentioned?

I apologise! Some guy from the Sun said on R5 that he couldn't work out why he had resigned either. Apparently he has sold out his next tour. All publicity is good publicity!

If they're still operating the way they used to, it'll be a case of them phoning him and saying, "We're gonna publish this about you - want to come clean to us instead?"
