Jars of mincemeat .......would you

use them way beyond their sell by date? I was clearing out my larder cupboard and have two unopened jars to be used by 2006

. It's not that I'm tight or anything - more intrigued - I wonder if they would improve with age. Would you use them? Don't want to kill anyone.

I think 2006 is probably pushing it a bit. There is a good chance the fruit would have formented or worse.

I'm so tempted ...........I thought mincemeat was a sort of preserve that improved with age.

(That's my excuse - nothing to do with the fact that things get stored in my cupboard never to see the light of day again

I alway think that use by and sell by dates are there for a reason. I throw everything away if it's not used by its deadline.
