After his past TV progs with children and their eating habit both here and the USA being a flop, i can't see why he keeps going on and on and on and on. Best if he sticks to what he does best- cooking and leave us all alone to do what we do best-survive the best way we can.

Don't like him... never have and never will.

I remember in my late high school days we used to eat anything we want... then along came these sort of tosspots the year after with this "Kids don't eat healthy" crap and got rid of it all.

Never will work... even when they did get rid of it all kids would walk out the front gate of the schools without permission and bugger off to the chippy.

If theres anything that annoys teenagers... its a school telling them what they can and can't eat.

He's just a rich tosspot lining his own pocket with all these new TV shows. He has a beautifull wife and children at home and millions in the bank, i think it would be good for him to F**k off and enjoy family life- something which i reckon most of us on this forum would give a limb to enjoy. The old addage crops up every time here- The rich get richer the poor get poorer. They have to rub it in our faces all the time. Why doesn't he go out to Africa and spend some of his millions on the starving kids out there ?  He is a tosspot out to line his own pocket ..

A celebrity trying to do this whilst filming a TV show is not the way to change a nations food habits, as was found out during his latest antics in the US.

Yaah, be much more noble to "F*ck off and enjoy family life" and not spend a bit of time trying to do something positive, whether it succeeds or not.

Hasn't it occurred that he could quite easily bog off and live on his cash, generate more food porn cash, without doing his ostensibly well-motivated stuff?

If he just did straight cookery progs and enjoyed his cash you'd moan about him not trying to do owt 'good'.

What is then?  F*ck all else has worked.  Vaguely intelligent thinking suggests trying new strategies is a good plan.

I don't suggest it's been a roaring success.  You seem hacked off he even tried.  That's absurd, to my way of thinking.

Aye, the history of man is basically 99% full of people sitting on their arses waiting for the arrival of pot noodles and being glum at the dearth of cocoa pops.

How the hell does he look down on folk, lol?

Hell, I'm not even hi hugest fan but this is absurd.  He's totally up front about being shite at school and just having got a break via food which was his only interest / employment opportunity.

If by looking down on folk you mean suggesting eating a cheap bowl of pasta with some herbs you grow in a crap little pot on the windowsill is better that a Ginsters costing twice the price then.....I dunno.  lol

I don't watch this tosspot- just post my views on what i have read elsewhere. As for his past programmes on TV which he started- they have all failed . Both him and that Hugh Fernly bloke have failed miserably -- buy organic etc; yeah OK if if you have the money. Sorry but all these trying to do good "Chefs" have no place in my weekly shopping budget.

Point 1 = you don't watch, opinions on what you read that others have written.  Righto.

Point 2 = That Hugh Fernley Whatnot's recent fish campaign seems to have got a lot of support.  Do gooder though.  Much betta not to know that we're shafting the seas.  Sure your descendants will be reet glad when there's not fish fingers to go round and majestic animals like the blue fin tuna are curios from the past.

Do you dislike all people trying to improve shit or just food-based ones?

And on this note i will retire to my bed. No use in arguments that get to this point. Night all and hope we can continue in the future with these serious debates. Better than some of the Topics that have been posted lately. Goodnight all and  no hard feelings--

I thought they did back him and brought in nutritional standards for school meals.
It has certainly made a huge difference to my kids' school canteens.

And the secondary school got rid of the vending machines full of fizzy drinks and chocolate.
Now they only sell healthy stuff and over-priced water!

Seems that the ConDems aren't up for backing it, though.

"Mr Gibb let the cat out of the bag when asked if academies would have to comply with nutritional standards for school meals. He replied: "Some existing academies are required to comply with these standards through their funding agreements.

"However, new academies will not be required to comply with nutritional standards for school meals. They will be free to promote healthy eating and good nutrition as they see fit."

I agree. That was such a silly thing to do.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the schools - it is the parents and successive governments that have ruined education. I am sure the teachers on this forum would agree.

Respect does not appear to figure in a child's life anymore - rich or poor its all about "me me me" and respect ME but not knowing what the word means..

I detest Jamie Oliver - instead of undermining the teachers he should be looking at the real problems.  Actually no he shouldn't.

Some one said earlier " well he would be condemned if he just concentrated on cookery programmes as he is so rich ( or words to that affect).  I don't think so. He can still do a lot of good with his money - but quietly and sticking to what he knows.

None of these experts who are coming in to give the benefit of their knowledge to the children are teachers ( as far as I am aware) and therefore will be lost as they won't have the faintest idea what they are doing in regards to teaching plans etc, Teachers have to be trained for a reason.
Just another load of noise from Oliver.....

blizzie you're right....it is implemented in secondary schools......well certainly the one i work in and as far as i know across the borough....

whereas before it was chips everyday...now fried food can only be served once a week in two instances.....ie:fish and chips on a friday........pastry is limited......and we have to know the calorific and nutrional value of each dinner served every day....there are no fizzy drinks available

also no chocolate sold at breaktime or at lunch.........

tbh when it first came in the kids were 'where's the chocolate?.why isn't there chips on?'....but they soon got used to it......and now it's just the way it is...no one bothers that it's geared towards a more healthy choice..

of course it'd be naive to think some don't stuff their faces with the 'bad' stuff either to or from school......but we can't stop that........we have to provide the healthy option inside the school............and i have to say....it was the reachers who minded the choccy disappearing more than the kids!!!

i guess the basic thinking is that hopefully the kids get a healthy meal/sandwich etc at least once a day.........rather than having nuggets and chips at lunch.....and going home for the same..(of course not every parent does nuggets and chips for dinner every night but you get the gist!)...........BUT........some kids (we cater for years 7-8,so they're between 11-13) are obviously in that category.......you do get some asking 'what's that'?...cos they don't know what a spaghetti bolognaise is.......and they've never tried it before.

it's the old addage.......no  'bad' food is really bad unless you eat it every day...it's all about sensible eating
