I avoid him. I find him a 'turn-off' I'm afraid.
I didn't used to like him, but have started to change my mind recently I really like his new 30 minute meals program
Former Member
Don't mind him, but like all the tele chefs, he rarely cooks anything that interests me as a vegan.

I cant stand him on these 30min meal programs, hes driving me mad. He can cook a pasta dish in under 30 mins dont you know WOW ! If only that were achievable by us mere mortals.
did you vote knob head then, veggie & Gyps?

I loathe him - however the Daily Mail readers love him - when I commented on the website what a twat he was, my god did I get the red arrows of disapproval
Former Member
Nah, I voted he's alright. I don't dislike him and think good on him for the school meals campaign. I'm sure that a lot of the bad behaviour we see from kids is down to bad diet as well as bad parenting.

I did
I want to like him, but he does himself no favours ...and in the words of the great mario....hes just going to have to live with that!

I like him, although it did make me laugh once when I saw him promoting Sainsbury's bags of fresh herbs when, in one of his earlier books, he had said not to by those rubbish picked herbs from the supermarkets!
I've been watching his new 30mins program and i reackon he has shares in lemons and olive oil, everything he cooks he has too put lemon on it, he cooked roast beef the other week and that put lemon all over it it may take 30mins too cook but each meal must cost ÂĢ30 with all the ingredients he puts in them

I think I first started to dislike him in his Naked Chef days when he blithely explained how easy it was to make fresh pasta and what a con shop bought stuff was. Making fresh pasta has to be the biggest waste of time ever.
My dislike grew when I saw that programme where he wanted to teach the nation to cook. I find him patronising in the extreme - I hate this "just a common man of the people" affair and really find his complete lack of understanding of human nature all too much.

Its all this brandishing and waving of the hands a la Ainsley Harriott that gets me as well.

Gyps i forgot about the garlic crusher and he said if you have a glass chopping board your a numpty, so just call me numpty from now on
I agree Zazz, beef should have gravy on it not lemon

Knob head.

whats wrong with a glass chopping board , i dont have one, but i may buy one now just to piss him off
Former Member
What sort of chopping board would sir like us to have?
I have a glass one - far the most hygienic.
Perhaps he would like us to have an olive wood one, naturally dried in the warmth of the Tuscan sunshine and then infused with truffle oil
Oh wait - perhaps we should be buying his overpriced pretentious rubbish.
I HATE HIM
BRING BACK DELIA

Making your own pasta is an oasis of calm in a frenetic world.
Plus, if you are stuffing your own ravioli you have little choice, tbh.

But it seems an awful lot of faff for not a lot of reward.
besides - I don't think I will ever be making my own ravioli
Former Member
Do! It's fun.
Each to their own, lol. I like working with dough. Watching it change. Stops me serial-killing.

Hmm..
I don't know cos I hate the feel of flour on my hands.
BUT I really love making curry - grinding up spices and stuff so maybe that is how I get my kicks.

Never liked him - too smug.

nooooo! I'm never peeling it again! Its so much better, all the garlic comes through and leaves the skin in the crusher so its easier to pick out and throw away
Former Member
I don't use a garlic crusher.
I whack the clovenwith the back of a knife and the skin peels off really easily.
Then I just chop roughly.

I like him, but I can see why some people don't.

what - re the garlic?
It is just so much easier and saves washing up the crusher which is a pain,

ohhh...no
DOWN WITH THIS SORT OF THING!
Yes, re the garlic, where is the point in crushing something so delicious into smithereens?

They blunt your knives
I've had the pleasure of Jamie Oliver cooking for me. Obviously not JUST me but I was at a small 'do' and he was the host and chef for the event. The food was really lovely - it even looked like Jamie Oliver food - and he bought out every single person who had been in the kitchens with him - I thought that was a nice gesture.
Like his cookery books, not so keen on him on some of his tv outings.
I do know the reason for his use of the garlic crusher on tv: if he doesn't use the correct utensils some people have a right old moan about it.
He's a lot taller than I expected too.
