Jai McDowell who won Britain's Got Talent last year, has spoken out about he was dropped by the the SYCO record label after hardly shifting any copies of his CD.  The blame was put on the release clashing with X factor and Christmas releases.

I think it's more down to Jai being as dull as ditch-water.  He may have had a nice voice, but unfortunately these days, it's not just about the voice, you have to have a certain quality and stage presence and confidence as well as talent, and of course, in most cases, looks are paramount too.  IMO, apart from a decent voice, Jai had nothing else going for him.

Is anybody shocked though?  Jai wasn't a dusky exotic looking brunette female, or a cute kid.  (Subo was a fluke, and he only bothered with her because of the extreme reaction on youtube and so on.)  I still think that Ronan Parke should have won anyway.  Obviously all the people who voted for Jai to win (over a million,) went off him rather quickly, as only just over 11,000 people bought his CD.

Acts like this have no longevity.  Cowell knows this so makes as much money  as he can during this shows.  Time and time again these acts are dropped within a few months because the audience has too many other shows to divert their attention.  These acts know this and yet they continue to think they're so special, it will be different for them.

You can probably count the acts that have had a modicum of success from these shows on one hand and yet people still audition year on year and the viewing public are willing to part with their pennies to secure a big payout for Cowell  and keep the whole she-bang going

There's nothing wrong with acts competing but sometimes it can take a couple of years for an act to get established, if at all, yet Cowell's lot seem to think because they've won a competition and sung songs on an album that aren't theirs, they will be so famous it won't matter.  Tell that to Steve Brookstein or whatever his name is   last seen touring Starbucks (good on him for keeping going though).

Shows like this have imo really killed, creative British music because it's become far too manufactured.  I also think smaller venues for up and coming bands are disappearing fast!   hey ho mumbling over
