it is very good isnt it, i didnt think they be able to  do the books justice, but looks like they  managed it.

its not really a crime thing.

 

the books are full of humour and unexpected laughs, in places  you don't expect them.tv  cant quite get to grips with that, but its a valiant effort.

 

the  fact that he is a private detective is merely a vehicle for kate atkinson 's tales.

 

I thought it was brillyant.

I especially enjoyed the relationship with his daughter. Will she be going off to New Zealand? 

on topic.. I think they've done a great job of making a tv drama out of a very complicated 'jumping back and forward all over the place' book.        Suze... i'm guessing it's Sunday and Monday for the next two weeks (which gives me about 9 days to read the third book )

they have  kaffs i was pleasantly surprised.

 

 the books do dodge about in time and place, and you have to have your  wits about you when reading them,  for me its all part of the enjoyment.

 

altho i have to say i read her  last  book and can hardly rember it, apart from the title.

By some strange quirk of fate We're meeting up with a friend of ours at the w/e. She was a school pal of Kate Atkinson and encouraged Mrs Jer to read the books. I hope they are better than the increasingly surreal TV prog. I thought it had a very very weak conclusion. Maybe it will all gel, but I much prefer Shadowline at the moment.

I haven't read the books and agree it's surreal, but I prefer it to Shadowline. It's so slow, I got bored and stopped watching.

Mrs Jer also thought it slow!

I listened to Mrs Jer and didn't bother watching it.

I've just finished reading 'When will there be good times?' and loved it.  Hadn't realised they were televising the books, though, and will probably give the TV versions a miss as most of my favourite fictional detectives haven't benefited from the transition from book to TV, in my opinion, (with the exception of Wallander and Morse)

when will there be good  news is the last in the JB trilogy, its a crackin good read.

 

altho  they seemed to have got  a story from one book and a story from another, mondays  episode had a story from ' when will there be good news'

 

it works  tho.

Just started reading 'Behind the Scenes at the Museum' by KA.  Really good read so far.  (Not a J. Brodie yarn, though)

behind the scenes , in my opinion is the best book shes written, its funny and very moving all at the same time.
