Unfortunately it seems the norm for even murderers, rapists etc.... to only serve half of their sentence, makes you wonder why they bother in the first place

They still get a good behaviour condition.
From what I know, a sentence of 12 months will usually mean 6 months inside, even less if they have served time on remand whilst awaiting sentence.
I understood it as every day counts as 2. So if they got a 12 month sentence, and have served 3 months on remand before the sentencing, they would only serve 3 months in total.
However, they can have days, weeks added on to their sentence if they misbehave

Agreed. I saw more than enough of him when Jade was filmed before she died. Maybe that was something he couldn't avoid, but making a show about how he's coping without Jade is just sickening. On his part as well as the tv company who's commissioning it.

I thought it was 50% for sentences less than 2 years, 33% off for sentences over 2 years, and a minimum term for very serious offences. I'm not really up to date on this stuff anymore.

Imo, he should've got alot more of a sentence for what he did. In his case, celebrity worked for him.
