And she was fab! She was here for an hour and a half and said everything is looking absolutely fine and that I should be able to plan for a normal birth. She measured me, took my blood pressure, checked my urine and basically did everything that my midwives haven't been doing so far. She also told me that I'm probably better not having an epidural, contrary to previous advice, because it won't actually help me with the fatigue and is more likely to prolongue the labour and result in an instrumental delivery. She said so far there are no reasons that I can't use the birthing pool or balls or anything else that I want. She's based at the hospital where I am due to give birth and is going to take charge of my birth plan etc and she said as long as she is available she will personally assist in the delivery too. I feel miles better about everything now. I'm so glad you lot convinced me to complain.

Well done.. it must have taken courage to complain, but you have had a brilliant result... Just goes to show if you hadn't, nothing would have changed probably.
Excellent, so pleased it went well for you
Although, she was a bit rough with the doppler. Baby is still not happy about that.
I know I don't *know* you, but I do wish you a happy pregnancy. I'm glad you've found a midwife you trust and that your plans for the birth all look positive.

That's fantastic Queenie.
I bet you feel a lot less apprehensive now about the whole thing, knowing that you are in capable hands

Queenie, that's great!
I'm so glad you've finally got sense out of them. Now you can concentrate on enjoying the rest of your pregnancy and looking forward to your new baby, without all the worry you shouldn't have been subjected to.

No, thanks goodness! I'd better start a guessing the sex/weight/date thread in a couple of weeks.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's all very well, but did she mention the lopsided bush?

I want it washed before I pay for it!!
That's great news, Queenie. As everyone else has said, it must be so reassuring and now you can just get on with looking forward to being a Mum.

have you got her number?
have you got her number?
Glad you are feeling more confident QOTHT
Thanks everyone. It's a massive weight off my mind to have someone who knows what they're doing. I'm sure it wasn't a coincidence that my blood pressure reading was bang on normal for once either. It's just a shame I had to complain to get a decent standard of care. I hope it's a lesson we can all gain from this anyway, if in doubt, complain!
Oh I'm pleased for you Queenie
Just concentrate on what kind of birth you want now , although with all the fluppence pain you have been having labour will probably be a skoosh now

Quick question Queen - have you had blood tests - I haven't had any since 12 weeks

I can't think of any, other than the ones I had at 28 weeks, but they were to do with gestational diabetes and because I have a negative blood type. If your blood pressure is ok and blood type is positive, I don't think you should need anything else checked hun.

I am. It's all getting a bit real now though. I think I'm just starting to realise that in around 8 weeks I'm actually going to have a baby.

least you only had to have one injection!
Good for you Queenie, I'm very pleased for you.
Just a quick question for the peeps that have been/are pregnant... when you have a scan, how accurate are they at determining the dates of conception? I'm not preggers btw but someone I know is and it may turn a bit Jeremy Kyle if you get my drift.

it's not so bad actually depending on the nurse you get lol. both injections were the same, the first one hurt like a bugger cos she took 2 mins to inject it...the second nurse stabbed me quickly and injected straight away and i had to ask her if she had done it she was much better lol!
you've had your one and only one then

Luckily, I had a pretty good nurse. I'm a complete coward as far as needles goes.
