Just waiting for someone to call me back to discuss things. I feel really nervous about it now though.

Try not to worry, you have done the right thing. Your midwife totally ignored what you were telling her and brushed you off with facts that were not actually true
Don't feel nervous and don't get angry.
Just explain what happened and how you would hate for others to go through the same thing!

I know but I'm worried that there may be repercussions. I didn't want to get anyone in to trouble, I just don't have any confidence in them personally.

Well done hun
Try and take notes if you can while you are talking to them - just in case you miss something out

Sorry but what has happened? Last i heard from you you were off to the anti-natal clinic. Are you ok?
Oh no, don't be. The service you recieved was not up to standard and if you feel low come on here there will be someone on to cheer you up.
You deserve the best As does baba.

You're quite right, Queenie. They're only people at the end of the day, and if they're not doing their job right, someone needs to be made aware of it. Blizzie is scaring me, she's being all sensible - just be honest without getting angry or upset.

Dont worry you have done the right thing. They will try to talk you out of making a formal complaint, but stand by your guns. If you feel they havent done their job right there must be an investigation x

I'm fine. It's just that my midwife team have been really rubbish and haven't done any basic checks like taking urine samples and measurements and I've had a major battle about getting something done for my SPD. I just don't feel confident in them at all so I have requested to be given a different team.

Make notes about everything, regarding their incompetence. Then you'll have something to refer to, when they call you back! This is your chance to get everything off your chest, and you'll have the notes to refer to if you get stuck for things to say. They have treated you abysmally. Sock it to them!
Sory, hormones must be kicking in. I'm really upset now and can't stop crying.

Get it over with, before the call!
You did right they see hundreds of people your only a number.
When I was in hospital I didnt want to complain but it was only when I finally spoke up things changed dramatically for the better.

Crying is normal. What you have been through is inexcuseable! Do NOT waver! How dare they treat you like they have been. Didn't they get your history mixed up with some else's. BIG nono!

Aw, don't. Just explain what you thought they should be doing and ask if there's a reason those checks aren't being done. You don't have to be inflammatory. The advice about a list if good, so if you get flustered you don't forget what you want to say.

Good for you - stick to your guns. You have not been treated appropriately so you have a right to complain - you could be saving someone from pre-eclampsia

Oh Queenie, you have done the right thing. When they call make sure you keep them on point. Have a good cry now and you'll feel better.
you're going to have a baby, that makes you the most important person in this equation and you should be treated as such.
you're only doing what needs to be done to get yourself a new MW team. good support in pregnancy is a right, not a privalige.
be strong

Thanks everyone. I think I've got it out of my system a bit now. I'll let you know what they say when I get the call.

like some here have said write all you concerns down so you remember exactly what you want to say. Your blood pressure should be taken at every anti-natal appt. I know that they don't weigh you as much if any anymore and yoursample should be checked everytime aswell. You have done the right thing in raising your concerns. Good luck And heres a to make you feel better.
Just spoke to a lovely midwife who's based in Halifax and in charge of all the teams. She was really understanding, very apologetic and said I was perfectly right to complain. She said has said it sounds like some training revsion sounds appropriate for the midwives I have seen and has assured me that measures will be taken. She has also arranged for the area consultant midwife to visit me at home who will talk through my birth plans etc and I have been assigned another named midwife from an alternative maternity team which means I can still see a midwife locally for routine appointments and she will continue to oversee my post-natal care. I feel so relieved. Thank you all for letting me moan and for all your good advice. I probably wouldn't have done anything about it if it hadn't been for you lot.
Great result, Queenie! Well done you!
BTW - I've just noticed the little lady in your sig! I love it!

Well done! Don't be worrying about getting anyone into trouble. If they're incompetence goes unchecked, then it's perpetuated. Bet you're feeling tons better now eh?

Well said. I'm glad it has all worked out so well.
I feel so much better now. I had a proper cry earlier and it made me realise how stressed all of this has made me. I don't think I'd realised how upset I've been over this. The midwife I spoke to was just wonderful and very understanding. Hopefully things will significantly improve now and not just for me. Thank you all again.
BIG HUGZ to you Queenie, this is such a lovely and special time in your life....I'm glad you've got things sorted so that you can continue to enjoy your pregnancy, looking forward to a beautiful healthy baby.
