Your Ipad is only able to Sync on 1 main computer, you don't need to sync it on lappy, just authorize the lappy to share/access  your itunes account (you can have upto 5) will go see if i can find the options etc

Right plug ipad into lappy then go to File then devices in the menu on Itunes it's got a 'Transfer purchaces from **** @ option

I can't see that it says File anywhere in iTunes ... it's got Summary, Infor,, Apps,, Music etc, but doesn't say File???

Also to authorize the lappy to your itunes account go store in menu, it should have authorize/de authorize this computer

Are you logged in? can you go to the store? I've got a menu bar across the top

well,, I've signed into the store, I've authorised this computer, and still it says that it is going to delete everything on the ipad and replace it with whatever I sync now??????????

there is an option that says sync selected music, but it's greyed out till I put a tick in the Sync box ... then comes this stooopid message

I did find the menu bar, you have to turn it on. Then I found devices and I synced ... and nothing transferred to the ipad

so ... I guess that's progress!!

I'm a bit stumped then Rexi, I get that message but that's cos I've had a new computer and not wiped my phone and synced it to it. Gonna have a little read of forums and see what others say

wahhhhh, nope, it says it's synching, but nothing gets transferred

1. Wait for iTunes to finish syncing your content before unplugging.

As with apps, to remove content such as a movie, book, or podcast, simply uncheck it. For music, you can even choose only specific playlists or songs.

Mine just automatically synchs to both my Iphone and iPad.....via IOS 6 I think..... and I think you can choose what music to synch , but my son talked me through the original synching, so I can't remember exactly how I did it

Why did I choose to do this today? My daughter has been home for a week ... I should have got her to set it up for me!!

 Sorry Rexi... and my son is at a funeral today, so I'm afraid I can't ask him..  Is it that big Itunes update Rexi? If it is then you may get a shock, cos it changes the appearance...and I'm still finding my way around it

And that's why I stick to cd's, vinyl and 8 track.  

I think it was an ipad update Baz, coz iTunes looks the same as it did earlier.

Now I can drag files to the iPad logo thingy in itunes, but they dont appear on the iPad.

What a bloody kerfuffle ... it's taken me about 3 hours to get precisely nowhere.

And to think I was going to chop my Blackberry in for an iPhone

 Once it's set up it's a doddle Rexi... like I say mine synch across all my devices without any problems...

and that is what I am going to return to velvet ... bloody stooooopid system this is

Sorry can't help because I can't afford an ipad but maybe that's just as well because I struggled with my Iphone and still don't get the love for it 

Apple make everything unbelievably difficult in my opinion.  Hope you get it sorted soon 

 See I think one of the best things about Apple products is they are simple ... (normally), and I love my Apple TV.... but I am VERY biased

it's easy when someone has a son to help set things up 

Apple used to be very good but it's too complicated for its own good now 

 True.... although I did manage to set my Apple TV up on my own but,  I did wait until I knew my son was back from his holiday  in case I had a problem

Sorry i couldnt help Rexi, i too am not that bad with comps etc. but itunes is so linear imo, if you want to do anything your own way it point blank refuses. I still love my phone, and update it over my wifi so i dont have to use itunes (apart from the store on phone obvs)

Well, thanks anyhow everyone. I don't think I have ever been so frustrated with anything, ever on a computer. Why the bloody hell can't they have a simple drag and drop method like Windows.

Based on this experience the impending iPhone can go take a running jump

i download what i want

save it

then add it on itunes & it syncs to my iphone

that way i dont have to pay silly prices on itunes..which is a rip off
