it squelched.... it was not a diamond back, pleased do not think a slug is going to  kill you

I know it's not, but it's just........that sound and the possibility of stepping on one barefoot..........innit

My toes are curling now and I'm in the house

same here in Cumbria Cosi.... and there's not a cloud to be seen

I think Ditty's getting us at it.  She's probably in bed giggling whilst we're getting cricks in our necks (and slugs squashed in our toes).

Reminds me of my grandad.  He used to take all of us kids - me and the cousins, out for a walk.  He'd stop, slap bang in the middle of the high street, point up to the sky and we'd all look up.  For ages.

Nothing there, of course - but the amount of people who'd stop and stand with us looking for something that wasn't there

We're off out now to see them...    you have to have a bit of patience people..   they are a bit like buses...   they all come at once... in spurts!

first time we went out to see them the boy was only about 9 or 10..    he was looking in the opposite direction every time we saw one...   we had to stay out til he actually managed to see one for himself!

Right...   Grumpy teenage girl has finally complied & got herself ready...  I have got redressed (including bra!!  HA - TAKE THAT PSYCHO BADGERS!!)

I will return later with my glory stories of shooting star awesomeness!

I saw FOUR of the tricky little buggers!

Best direction is north east!

We drove out to the marsh..... I was too much of a wuss to get out of the car at first. What if there were rapists in the fields behind me?  Or worse! Badgers!

We only had one patch of sky to watch, cos of the clouds.....luckily it was vaguely in the right direction....but then the clouds decided to ruin everything! But at least I saw FOUR before they did....and Duds only saw one, much to his disgust! The trick is to NEVER EVER EVER look away, even if your neck is screaming at you to give up.

Just because you're in the Norf East, doesn't mean you were looking Norf East.

We watched for about 20 mins...and saw 4 Sprouty, and they're easy to miss....Duds was looking in the right direction and still managed to miss 3 of them They're very obvious though....there's no mistaking them!

I bet you came indoors too quick on account of it being bliddy freezing in the NE

we came back cos there was someone the other side of the orchard doing a laser show with their (obviously expensive) torch...   so then MrD had to go into battle of the (expensive) torches & start laser showing back to them.. & then Ickle started freaking saying they were probably serial killers (stalking around the orchards with a torch )

then Ickle mistook OUR dog for a badger!

you just have to be looking in the right direction at the right time...    it can be ages between them...

the light pollution you have there may mean you don't see the smaller ones..   but the two biggies we saw I reckon even in the city you'd see it.

PATIENCE is the key
