Is the Olympic torch coming to a town near you?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

iT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE GREAT MAJORITY OF US to answer that question until we get the itemised route. At the moment all we have are SOME OF THE OVERNIGHT STOPPING PLACES.

Until we know the exact route it will take BETWEEN stopping places, who knows how close it might come to you.

I read the article earlier today and all hundred and whatsit replies that had been made at the time and two main things that made me wonder about the intelligence level of the nation were - People complaining that it wasn't coming near them

        - People pontificating about how the calendar was two days out....because they themselves were too daft to look at the 2012 calendar.

Yogi, it's only overnighting in Glasgow. It's route to and/or from Glasgow could pass through somewhere closer to you, but we won't know exactly where until they release more specific details.

 Thanks Fluffy.

No! One stopover announced so far, but there could be more, as it said "The first 78 stopovers" and it will have to pass through other parts of Lincolnshire to get to the overnight stop.

TWO!!! Contrary to popular belief Cleethorpes is in NE Lincs!

How exciting! I really hope you get the tickets ....................it really would be a night to remember - I agree with you re the bah humbug attitude - I'm sure most wont be able to stop themselves caught up in the moment!

Fingers crossed for you.

Thanks Soozy  Tbh, I wouldn't be heartbroken about missing the cycling, table tennis and judo but I ordered them because my kids picked them. My husband has ordered the Beach Volleyball for him, his brother and my brothers  so I hope that's a fail too. Didn't go for swimming or athletics because I know that's better on the telly....so my wish is for the tennis, football, hockey and opening ceremony.

GRANDSONS?!!!    I genuinely thought you were about 19...

Re the torch..... Yes it is passing by me... it's passing by virtually everyone....  so I may go.

I'll be at work in Nottson the 28th, but as I've said before and I'll say it again, I have no interest in the Olympics, it has no benefit for my area The East Midlands, we will never gain from it what so ever. The Olympics is just there for London and Londoners, and lots of South Easteners, OK you will feel the pinch in your Council Tax, tough!. The Government never had any intention of placing The Olympics in a Central part of GB, making it accessible to everyone, it's just a flop showboat for the Capital again, another wasted big tent!

Well ...................no matter what country the Olympics is held in I watch it avidly. Always have and probably always will. The fact that it's in the UK this year is quite exciting and ..............something I'll always remember and hopefully be proud of .......................................and although I never use this smiley - it has been used several times in this thread so
