of course you don't need a religion to have a moral code
No you don't, but as a kid you learned a lot of right and wrong from the stories....although as it was pointed out (by you DS?), A book of fairytales did much the same job.
I'm not a Christian, Muslim, Hindu or anything...I don't subscribe to organised religion in any form, but I don't castigate anyone for their beliefs, as long as I don't have to have them rammed down my throat

True...and both taught me to be scared shitless of such things as my parents being burned alive in a fiery pit of hell or nasty wolves coming to eat up my granny

I'd have preferred to get my moral code without the unecessary side effects to be honest

I was lucky...neither parent was religious but they packed me off to Sunday school so they could do what parents do when they've got rid of the offspring on a Sunday afternoon....No fire and brimstone, or hellfire or any of that...the C of E was pretty laid back in that respect....I actually liked the fairytales no side effects whatsoever.....but I was always careful around people offering me apples
