IMO it's in bad taste at the minute. Lots of people are losing thier houses etc. Anybody who is looked up to by the public should have a bit of compassion for those less fortunate. Spend it but why the hell go telling the world you're spending thousands on a handbag you probably already have in 50 other colours?????

BUT...it is her money so I'm a bit torn. If you work hard for it and invest well then you are entitled to spend it.

Having said that if I see her or any other celebrity on my telly asking me to give money to the poor while they sit there with ÂĢ50 of lipgloss on and going back to their plush hotel after I reserve the right to throw my new Primark pumps at the telly Glance

Well she's keeping whoever is making them in employment.

I personally think it's obscene and a total disgrace, but of course, it's not up to me or anyone to say how she should spend David's her own money.. Roll Eyes

It's just when there are 10s of 1000s of people losing their jobs EVERY DAY, and businesses going tits-up and people losing their homes, it just makes me sick when people squander vast amounts of money on crap; like those 2 vacuous airheads Wayne and Coleen Rooney spending 5 million pounds on their wedding. That really angered me. yes I KNOW it's their money,, but why the hell did they have to spend THAT much?

It's their money, and they can spend it how they want, but it makes my blood boil to see people spend money recklessly. I watched that Martin Clunes 'visiting the UK islands' programme this past few weeks, and there were loads of uber-rich billionaires who had their own castle/stateley home, their own jet, half a dozen high performance cars, their own helicopter, their own farm, etc etc etc, and I just thought 'how vulgar and pretentious.' Sick I found the programme rather innapropriate; when people have no jobs and people are having their homes repossessed... I felt like it was really rubbing peoples' noses in it. "Look how rich *I* am!" Roll Eyes

JMHO of course.

I personally think it is obscene.... but I guess conversely it's her own business Frowner

I agree with you. Yes, it is her money to do with as she wishes, but, to me, it is obscene when there are so many people who are desparately poor.

let the rich spend, though, as i said earlier, most of the designers give them free stuff...the rich get richer the poor get poorer......now, be back in a while, just filling a job application form in, MP for Bolton West! Laugh That way I don't even have to spend my OWN money! Shake Head

I think there is a difference between being extravagent and just plain ostentatious. I mean, why would anyone want half a dozen cars, for example? 200 handbags and shoes? A castle with 10 bathrooms and 10 bedrooms? It is wonderful to have money and alot of it, but to spend it like some people do and rub it in the faces of people who have nothing - well that is obscene imo.

Oh and I am not even a socialist Eeker Big Grin

1) to drive for pleasure
2) for track days
3) convertable for summer
4) to use with family
5) for transporting loads
6) partners car

thats six, easy.

as to the houses comment surely most 2 or 3 bedroom houses have at least 2 bathrooms, isnt it fair to assume that if you have more bedrooms you'll have more bathrooms?

If I was uber-rich, I'd run out and buy all that stuff Nod

The thing with Rooney (and other top flight footballers) is that they get paid such a vast amount of money, that spending ÂĢ5m on a wedding probably isn't that massive an amount to them. The cost of the average wedding is around ÂĢ20k... their wedding could well be in proportion to their wages - they must have had a lot of guests though Eeker

Well, personally, I always feel really guilty if I buy something really extravagant that I don't need.
There are several very needy charities that I support, which do fantastic work and are always desperate for money, and I always think how much good that money I spent would have done if I'd have bought something cheaper and sent the extra money to them.

I try not to buy anything very extravagant but to prefer to use any extra cash I've got where it will do some good and make a difference - however small.

But that's just me. I'm not judging people who don't think that way.
