Alright, they want it for emergency services but it's the cops whereby it is being driven. Paramedics and the fire service > the police any day. Sorry.
How many people have died in police custody? How many have been sentenced? None to my knowledge.
They want life sentences/special treatment but I know you know that.

I received an unsolicited email asking for my support for this poll because I've signed other online polls in the past, but I absolutely refuse in this case. There have been attempts in the past to bring in "special" punishments for other emotive cases such as child-killers, but while I'm sure many have supported these for the best of intentions, the fundamental problem remains that once you create the legal precedent that some lives are worth more than others you're on a very slippery slope.
We live in a world where some "politicians" are still able to use deliberately dehumanising language to demonise certain ethnic/cultural groups, and where other ethnic groups still have to actively protest that their lives matter just as much as anyone-elses, so - no: hard pass from me...

I too declined to sign that petition. I felt the reasoning behind the petition was very much a 'knee-jerk' reaction.

Yes thanks, Velvet, I've been lurking a lot, but am conscious I should be posting more.
I've been working from home since start of lockdown, but have been going back into the office 2 days a week for the last month. This month's likely to be busy, so be aware that any activity online here is likely to be in fits and starts.
