Don't know much about sports drinks. Something to do with glucose and replacing electrolytes lost through sweat. Sorry - someone on here will know probably.

Hey me from Australia in Sidney!

Hi and Welcome Pasty Not sure which energy drinks you have in Oz, there was a uk documentary a few weeks ago that tested the well known energy drinks here and they weren't found to be very beneficial, mainly sugar. It was suggested that sportsmen either drank milk or eat bananas...tennis players can often be seen to eat them in the breaks of a long running match.

Hi Pasty, welcome.

Regarding your question (as above). I saw a programme on TV that completely negated the need for energy drinks. They spoke with athletes who said that water in conjunction with a jam sandwich were what they used. Also have a coffee half an hour before training was another.

They also had a good look at expensive training shoes and came to the conclusion that they were more about selling expensive footwear to people than actually providing any benefits. A pair of cheap plimsoles would be just as good.
