Come out of IE completely, then back in again......

Sometimes the reset won't work unless you log off the computer (not just the browser) entirely and log back on.

Sorry, El Loro, but I'm not updating on this computer. Last time all my favourites and bookmarks went. I'm not following some American's advice on the top again.

Hi Cologne, i havent updated, just removed Gaga from the compatability view, and its removed the yellow banner and the avatars are at the side now.
I had to use Google Chrome, and had no end of problems, so i am happy now !

I've always had to use firefox to use this forum .... infact I use it all the time now

Skylark, I'm ok with not being able to quote, so I'll stick with it. FF doesn't seem to want to load up on pc, don't know why.

I am on IE 9 ,went to tools but then where? I dont have compatability view settings.

I cant get FF either , Cologne, i think its my security settings, it doesnt like it , for some reason. I use AVG

Am using IE8 just now - went to Compatability View Settings - GaGa wasn't showing. Am therefore having no problem quoting and all the avatars are neatly on the left.

However....if I check 'Compatability View' (not the settings) it tells me my browser is not supported and I should update to a more modern one, such as IE8 or 9.

But if 'Compatability View' is unchecked then you wont see that message

As Skylark says, it's probably something to do with the Security settings.

As far as the 'Tools - Compatability View Settings' is concerned, it will not change anything if you just want to have a look. Once you've had a look, if you're still not sure about it, just close it down. Nothing will have changed, if you don't delete anything.

I go into Tools but I dont have Compatability View Settings option. I have

Print.File .Zoom.Saftey.view downloads.Manage add ons.F12 developer tools.Pinned site.Internet options.About internet explorer.

Sounds like they've rearranged the menus for IE9, cos some of what you list IE8 has on 'Tools' and other bits are on other IE8 menus.

The Compatability stuff is probably there somewhere, sounds like you're going to have to check-out ALL the menu options - if you can be bothered and REALLY want to know.

I'm on IE7 at work and IE 8 at home. So really have no idea about where IE9 may have hidden stuff.

Five to ten now. Are we going for another episode of Jedward bashing?

On mine, I clicked the 'Tools' menue and the Compatability stuff was about half way down the drop-down menu.

I had problems getting on last night, and finally identified the cause to be the "Compatability" issue pretty-much by accident...

[BTW, I'm on IE8. I use Windows XP, so IE9 isn't an option...]

If people who use IE9 are having the display problems and need to change the Compatability Mode, Windows has changed the way this is done. I found this on the Microsoft site. I don't use IE9 as I use Windows XP so have no way on knowing whether this will work.

From now on, whenever you visit this website, it will be displayed in Compatibility View. However, if the website receives updates to display correctly in the current version of Internet Explorer, Compatibility View will automatically turn off.

you seem happy enough to post on 'some American's forum' yet are not happy to taken the Developers advice cos they are 'American'?
