Due to circumstances beyond my control I found out today that I wont be moving from A to B and will have a gap in the time frame so ......

I think I will have to terminate my existing broadband and land line package and reinstate it or start a fresh one once I have completed my purchase [ I am hoping maybe there is a way of putting it into suspension as long as I keep paying and I can keep my number] but my temp home has a phone but no broadband so I am thinking PAYG dongle to get  over the gap

TBH I think I need 2 - one for email and small amount of browsing for MrH and another one for me for heavy internet use -   I dont mind what it costs as long as I know what size to be going for which I have no idea about

one laptop and one PC so USB would be essential

Can anyone point me in the direction of what they know to be the best deal/option around

Any advise would be greatly appreciated

I've had dongles in the past and they always run out too quickly if you try to watch any clips, listen to music, download anything or more recently....have the videos playing automatically on facebook (if you use that).  I've no other advice on which is best because ours is old and we only use it randomly when we're without internet for whatever reasons.  Go to a phone shop and they will check coverage in your area and you can discuss with them how much data you'd need.

and then look for the best deals on line to suit your needs. I am on O2 for my mobile but I bought a 3 dongle while I was waiting for my broadband line to be up and running because it had the better signal Mrs H.

thanks for your replies

I will look a little closer tomorrow with a clearer and less tired brain

EE and Tesco's deal  looks the best so far tonight - to purchase dongle preloaded with 6mb ÂĢ60 then PAYG top ups [ not sure how much this is though till I ask ]as and when you need up to a maximum of 5 per 28 days

I am with EE for mobile phone - land line and Broadband so will either call or go to the local shop and see what they can do - mentioning I have seen their Tesco deal  might help with the negotiations as I would as previously mentioned like to keep my current package running if possible - just need to get over the few weeks of no fixed address to secure it to

thanks Dame

wifi is a lot more competitive in price and will buy a low speck one for MrH for the lappy

selfishly I am the more expensive user  and will have to pay the higher USB prices as I dont have wifi on the PC  but will be a pain in the back end if I am severed from it and have to resort to watching telly

No problem Mrs H...and both O2 and 3 give a higher usage options, I would compare the Gb's you're going to get for your cash and also check the signal in your area..cheaper may be better, or visa versa for the strongest signal

There's consumer advice on most things at http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/ though.

thanks Rog

No probs. Just typed "dongle" into the search box at MSE and this article came up, if its any help?
