It's night time now, but when I posted that link there was black smoke and flames billowing everywhere and two yachts each to both sides of it
On a smaller note the Tyne and Wear Metro failed (or something) and passengers needed to walk through the tunnel to safety

This probably deserves a separate thread, but...
You're correct: the general principle of asylum is that you're dealt with in the first "safe" country you enter. That's why this won't happen: it's just electioneering for the up-coming French elections.
Also: IIRC, it was Sarkozy who negotiated the Calais Camp deal in the first place,,,
