It's a bit of misdirection originating from the Trump presidency. A couple of the founding members of BLM said they were "trained Marxists", so people like Giuliani leapt on it and claimed: "Oh, look: BLM's Marxist.". Given the US's "Reds under the beds" history, this gave Republicans an excuse to not only ignore BLM but paint it as the enemy.
Now it's being copied here: certain England "fans" who'd have previously thrown bananas on the pitch and made monkey chants can now boo players "taking a knee" and claim: "Oh, we're not racist: we just oppose the players supporting a Marxist organization.".
In reality, support for BLM broadened very quickly, and "taking a knee" predates BLM by a long way... But as I said: misdirection...
