With the wet weather due to stay around...a little reminder to drivers..

Splashing a pedestrian

Driving through a big puddle carelessly and getting a passer-by can see you get three to nine points on your licence and a fine of up to £5,000.

This is because the Road Traffic Act 1988, Section 3, states: 'If a person drives a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road or other public place without due care and attention, or without reasonable consideration for other persons using the road or place, he is guilty of an offence.'

Oooooo ….as a pedestrian I didn’t know that ….thanks Slim .

110 years ago — Oct. 27, 1904 — 150,000 people rode the New York subway when it opened to the public for the first time, regarding the new form of public transit more as a circus act than as part of the drudgery of daily life. The first subway line, which ran from City Hall to 145th Street and Broadway, opened to “the tooting of whistles and the firing of salutes,” according to the New York Times’ report of the day, which noted the awe of those waiting in line for their turn to ride in the tunnels: distance travelled was just over 9 miles and had 28 station stops..

When do the clocks go back in 2021?

The clocks always go back on the final Sunday of October, with the change coming into effect at 2.00am.

It means that this year it’s happening in the early hours of Sunday 31 October, giving everyone an extra hour in bed to prepare for Halloween.
